Chapitre 6: CHAPTER 6: THE TRUTH
I was standing outside the house, reluctant to go in. The lights were all on. I sighed and decided to walk past the main metal gate and go in. The second I entered, I saw my mom, who was sitting on the couch in the living room, and my dad who had his hands placed on my mom's shoulders, both look around.
"Kara Iris Silver! Where do you think you went at this hour of the night!?" My mom shouted. "Went for a walk" I said. "You should've asked us, dear!" My dad said. "You were busy talking to Rena, about how we've got powers and stuff about another planet and whatnot. I just didn't want to disturb you!" I said angrily.
I could feel my face getting hotter and I didn't care that both my parents looked shocked. Even my little brother, Jace came out of his room to know what the shouting was about and stood, in the hallway near the kitchen, with his mouth slightly open.
"Kara, dear-" my dad spoke but I cut him off.
"No! I want the truth! About everything. I'm assuming everyone already knew about me? How I am so dangerous! Is that why, Alura and Mike haven't visited us in years? Is that why Bill doesn't talk to us anymore? Because they think I could hurt them!?"
I was shouting. I couldn't even control myself anymore. I was crying my eyes out. It hurt so bad but it came as a relief to let out my feelings. My parents just stood behind the couch looking bewildered, not knowing what to say. To my surprise, and my parents' too, a woman spoke from behind Jason.
"We're not scared of you Kara. We're scared for you. If the people of Volta or anyone from Zynph find out that the successor of Raya has been born, they'll go nuts. They'll do anything to win your favor or cause you a lot of pain and try to get your powers and use it themselves for evil."
It was Caitlin. She had her dark brown hair, which were the same shade as mine, in a curly pixie cut. Out of all my siblings, Caitlin was the only one who looked the most like me. She was wearing an off the shoulder T-shirt and pajamas.
"Cait! What.. when did you come here..?" I asked. I was so surprised, but happy to see her. She always had that warm look on her face that made me calm down. "I arrived about an hour ago. That's when mom and dad found out you weren't in your room.. look. Kay, I'm sure you're mad, and you have every right to be so, but just know that we all had our reason."
"Yea, and I want to hear those reasons... And Don't start saying that I'm too young." I added as my mom threw another disapproving look at Cait. "Jason go to your room" my dad said to him as he opened his mouth to say something . After he had gone, my mom spoke.
"Okay. We'll tell you everything you want to know... Come sit down at least" she said as she and my dad both took their places on the couch Infront of the TV. Caitlin sat nearer to the fireplace. I decided to sit next to Cait.
"Hos much do you know?" My dad asked. I told them everything I overheard. About Serena's and Alura's powers. About us leaving Volta and why.. "so what is it you want to know, dear"
"About my powers. You said that they're dangerous but how am I supposed to understand that if I don't even know what they are and why they're so rare." I replied to which Caitlin said "I think mom and dad will agree with me when I say, out of all of us, Mel knows best about the fury's history.." my parents nodded.
"But we'll tell you what we do know" My mom started speaking. "Raya or the black Phoenix, which is her title, was the first ever holder of the fury. She was known to be very intelligent even as a kid. During those times, only members of the royal court were known to have special abilities which are now simple known as powers..
"Some people started noticing that Raya, who was daughter to the chief of the royal guard, could make strange things happen around her. People weren't stupid even then, and the rumor reached the then queen. Obviously she was annoyed to know that a commoner could have powers to and she sent 16 year old Raya to exile."
It was Cait who spoke this time. "Mom. You're making her out to be some sort of pitiable little girl. But Kara, let me tell you she was far from that. Melody told me this herself. Raya was a literal mastermind. Being exiled was exactly what she wanted. It meant she was kept away from living beings and she could practice her magic freely without any worry."
"And so she spent 8 years in the outlands, gaining strength and control over her powers. She found out she has fire powers and used really dark and forbidden magic to give createed a firebird, which is now known as a phoenix, from the ashes of that came to when she burned serpents alive. At first it was just one phoenix, but at the end of her 8 year exile, she had an army of those creatures."
"When her exile period ended she marched into the kingdom with this army of hers and killed the queen and almost all of the royal family except the sister of the queen." Cait finished. "Now Kara, you should go to bed... We'll answer all your questions tomorrow" she added when I opened my mouth to retort. I still had so many questions, but I decided to go to my room.
