Jake threw a spear, doing a bit of damage to the slime but didn't quite deal half. His claws made quick work of it, giving him 3 experience. The slimes had enough spacing between them that he only fought them one on one or two on two. He got the ten kills easily, and even got another two more to level up. He put all three of his unused stat points into magic and kept on fighting. Combined with Lexy, they collected 52 cores in two hour. Every second was a minute inside the dungeon, so it had only been two minutes in the real world when they got to the boss. This was a field dungeon, meaning no traps, challenges, or real quests. Outside of mutations and field bosses, there was nothing unexpected to stop them from reaching the boss.
The boss was surrounded by stones that outlined a square. A massive blue goop ball almost ten feet tall with a golden crown encrusted with gems on the top of it. It didn't have any limbs or features, but they could both feel it was alive. It sprang up in the air immediately after they entered the box. It felt like a morder had been fired as they looked up at it flying down towards them at a staggering rate.
Lexy used a footwork technique to avoid it narrowly, but Jake knew he couldn't make it out of the splash range in the few seconds so he made two flame spears with as much mana as he could put into them and jumped up at it. He had only got a few feet in the air when it completely extinguished and his movement was restricted by the slime around his body.
Jake started to take damage from the core trying to absorb him after the massive first strike from the slime. Wind blades were thrown around him with no luck of freeing him. The rate of digestion was so slow that he could last at least a few minutes before dying, but he wanted out as soon as possible. The slime was warm and painful, like the ki pool in his meditation. It was significantly less intense, but it gave him an idea.
He did exactly what he did in the pools of ki, pushing all of his mana and ki out into it. He started sending off lightning rings from his feet and flame spears from his hands. The slime was slowly shrinking, but his mana and ki pools were shrinking faster. Lexy's hand enveloped into a tornado, which she used like a drill on the boss's sticky mass.
Jake eventually made his way out after almost three minutes trapped in its slime. With all the stats he had, it was no problem to hold his breath that long so he only took around a hundred damage in total from it.
His health was still above half, but so was the boss. It was incredibly tanky and flexible, combining that with its ability to restrain opponents and area of effect attacks, it was no wonder it had such low damage. It wasn't the toughest boss, but compared it definitely wasn't a pushover either. Another half hour and the bombardment of wind blades and flame spears killed it.

Another set of aspects, but this time he wanted to do more research on what they were first, so he didn't pick up any of them for now. He didn't have any appraisal skills or scrolls that could tell him what the vest did, and he wasn't high enough level to use it so there was no point in keeping it. He would just sell it for points later.
"HEY"
Lexy was yelling right next to him.
"The rewards are here, are you going to take them?"
"Right, I forgot. I just got another two levels from the quest. Did you level up too?"
"Nope, this isn't my first dungeon. My brother took me to three of them before I came back to school. I'm up to level 9 now so I just got a bit of experience."
Leveling up after level ten was easier than getting there, because instead of doubling it would only get a little bit better. The level ten breakthrough was a huge powerspick, not quite as big at level fifteen but pretty close.
Jake put the royal slime core in his inventory along with the 52 cores he already had. It also dropped a pair of boots and a crown. When he picked up up the crown, a quest appeared.

He put away everything but the boots, which he could sell to get enough points for another run whenever he wanted. This was one of the easiest dungeons in every way, but he had gotten a lot out of it. Boss type dungeons were the scariest, mostly because in the boss rooms of them; all hearthstones are blocked. In every dungeon type there was an instint escape that made them much less dangerous, but fortunately this wanted that kind of dungeon.
Until now.
The sky turned red and the stone blocks swirled into a tornado; Trees and vines grew around Jake and Lexy to form an arena to enclose them. The slimes began to disintegrate and the blocks covered a wooden golem. Glowing green eyes began shining out of its sockets as it awakened.
