Chapitre 22: Be humble, sit down

"Trial 68," Tyler's voice sounded exhausted as he welded parts parts together. His face was covered by a dark face shield.

His sole figure standing in an environment flashing with bright white light and sparks flying from cutting and welding metal.

A moment or so later the bright flashes of light stopped and the place turned quiet as the tools were turned off. Lifting his face shield, Tyler's tired eyes were revealed as he looked at what he was working on— a round device with a glowing center.

Besides it, there was a monster core and some type of slim metallic board with wires hanging out of it.

"There graviton particle generator, let's test you out," he picked up the round device and pulled out two wires from within it.

He flicked them together as sparks flew and eventually, the glow inside the device intensified.

Like a magnet attracting another magnet, the device flew and landed on a wall, unmoving.

"Yes, finally...." Tyler's exhaustion vanished in an instant as he ran to where the object had landed on the wall— resting there like a stone on the ground.

He picked it up and let it fall once again. It didn't fall to the ground, but rather towards the vertical wall— even bouncing twice before resting there.

If Isaac Newton had been here, he would have vomited blood at how absurd the scene was. It defied all common sense and logic.

Tyler picked up the device and walked back to his work desk. Quickly getting to work, he fixed all the wires on the metallic board to create a round slot where he placed the device.

At the back part of the board, he inserted the monster core after which he let out a sigh of relief.

"Perfect, now all that's left is the dipole-monopole transistor,"

Sliding his face shield back to his face, the flashes, sparks, welding, and cutting noises resumed.

When Tyler immersed himself in creation, he had no track of time. Three days silently passed by and he hadn't left the workshop since.

After multiple failures that numbered in hundred, Tyler was finally able to create the last item which he inserted in a round slot in the middle of the metallic board.

Three days straight with no sleep or food, Tyler should have already fainted from exhaustion by now. But that wasn't the case since he was a half-demon now. As long as he had some dark energy in reserves, he could go on for several days more.

The only exhaustion he would face was from the multiple failures he was experiencing. However, after getting it right, it would wear off instantly.

Now Tyler stood there looking at his one-piece creation, eyes gleaming with excitement. It didn't look like much as its design was scrap-like with multiple patches of rusted metal here and there. But for Tyler, this device was like gold.

-The very first true hoverboard!

"Let's test you out," Pressing a giant red button at the center of the board, the board came to life as it buzzed in excitement and started to rise, levitating an inch off the work table.

There were lines of blue light moving about inside the frames of the board in cycles. The sound the board was producing seemed to be coming from the movement of that light.

The blue light was a result of quantum gravity cores interacting with the magnetic monopole particles.

-It works perfectly.

-I'll have to find a way of reducing the components' size so I can integrate them to the heavy sword so I can reduce its weight.

Pressing the red button again, Tyler turned off the board.

"I found you," a voice from behind startled Tyler.

When he turned around, he caught sight of Daren King staring at him. He was dressed in his training attire and had sweat trickling down his face and arms.

It was evident he was just from training.

But why was he looking for him?

"Why are you looking for me? I thought after our interaction last time, I would be the last person to look for," Tyler maintained a calm composure as a playful smile appeared on his lips.

He turned around as if ignoring Daren and started to tidy his work table.

He was worried someone had seen what he was doing but if it was Daren, he didn't care at all because he knew more of Daren's secrets.

"Daotian's cave is a sacred place. You cannot enter without being granted permission by Daotian himself. If you were powerful enough and tried to break down the entrance, you could force yourself in but everything inside would be destroyed. That's why I still chose to take you there because even if you knew the location, you wouldn't enter....I didn't expect Daotian to accept you given you."

The smile on Tyler's lips turned into a smirk but he didn't say anything and let Daren to talk.

Tyler wasn't accepted, it was more like he was kidnapped. The only reason he was still alive was because Daotian still had a use for him otherwise he would have died in there.

"If he accepted you, then that means you have a righteous personality,"

-Righteous my foot! I'm a demon.

"So I'll forgive you for crossing one of my lines by blackmailing me. You must have had your reasons...But that's not what I was looking for you for. How did you know? the monster cores....how did you know they have raw energy in them? You aren't as ordinary as you look. So who are you exactly?"

-As expected of the protagonist, he found out about the secret behind the monster cores before it was made public. I bet his system had something to do with it...

At the moment, monster cores are seen as rubbish but in a couple of months, all of that will change because the public would know of the use of monster cores.

Tyler had to collect as many of them as possible before the monster core rush starts.

"You wouldn't believe me if I told who I was...." Tyler paused as he wore his backpack and carried his hoverboard, adding an unexpected dramatic suspense.

"Try me," Daren was eagre to find out as he probed.

Tyler turned around slowly and revealed the playful smile on his lips, "I am...Tyler Vonstriek! a.k.a the heavy sword idiot!"

Daren:"..."

Tyler began to walk and brushed shoulders with Daren as he made his way out.

"You know, you shouldn't be looking into the only person that could fix your precious system, be obedient and stay out of my business.....I'll come look for you when I need you, goodbye Daren King!"

Daren stood rooted to the ground as stiff as an electric pole. His pupils were constricting and dilating continuously as a shock grippled his heart.

"H-h....how did he....." the words failed to come out of his mouth.

[New mission!]

[There are three demon contractees in the academy, eliminate them!"

[Reward: ???]

[Penalty: regression]
