Chapitre 69: My Own Track (2)

There was still more than an hour until Skyler finished her training. It wasn't that he didn't want the girl's company. It was just that he was too eager to wait for her, so he decided to go ahead and meet her there.

The trip took about twenty minutes to leave the city, and the ruins were another half hour from it.

When he arrived, more than an hour had passed, and near the entrance, he saw two soldiers sitting on each side of the door.

As he advanced, he hoped that the soldiers would not put buts to let him enter, but when he was close, he noticed something strange.

The soldiers were inert and were sitting on the floor with their heads down. When he arrived and touched them, they were both dead.

Their necks had been ripped and left lying there. Malcom did not understand what was happening, and looking inside the lair, he decided to enter.

When he stepped on the entrance step, he felt how the environment changed.

"Skyler, I didn't wait for you. I'm in the den... something's not right. The guards at the entrance are dead!" He said seriously towards Skyler after grabbing the necklace.

Skyler, across town at her house, heard that as she was hydrating. She took the necklace and said, "Malcom, wait, don't come in!"

However, the Marked no longer listened to her. He was already so anxious to the point of t

She thought about what her brother had said. He was protected by virtue, so nothing bad could happen to him.

Still, even so, she wanted to be there for him. Without losing another second, she shot out of her house to try to reach Malcom, who she thought could be in danger.

Her haste was such that she forgot to tell anyone where she was going. As she advanced to that place.

Malcom slowly descended and noticed how his necklace lost communication. A strange magic field was around the lair this time. That was not there the previous time, and that situation gave the Marked a bad premonition.

He came down calmly and crossed the corridors that he had already seen. He did not divide. He saw no enemy, but the atmosphere of the whole place was completely different. Suddenly, when he got to the cell area, he listened.

"Can you believe this rubbish... how they let themselves be so easily defeated?"

Malcom looked out and saw how two people were talking down on a lower floor in the place where Albert had fought.

That seemed strange to him. He did not know how they had gotten up there. Still, when he saw them, he noticed two young people who were not much older than Albert.

The man was dressed in cloth pants and a very striking flower shirt while his long hair fell to his shoulders.

This was the one who was talking to a girl considerably shorter than him with a black dress that resembled the dresses of yesteryear.

The only difference was that in this dress, instead of embroidery, there were tiny coffins glued to the fabric like a macabre ornament.

The girl had two tails and in her hand an umbrella with the same coffin ornaments. They both spoke.

"Listen to what I'm saying... if I'd had been here, I would have eliminated those Virtues!" The man said arrogantly.

"What are you talking about? Are you stupid?" The young woman said with disdain. She then added, "They are Virtues. You are no match for them!"

The man laughed. "I'm telling you, honey, you haven't seen my full potential yet!"

The woman sighed at those words. Malcom was silent while he tried to activate his necklace. He could see them perfectly from the place where he was, but they had not noticed his presence.

It was clear that these people were enemy members of the church of the four. Still, it was difficult to know how strong they could be, Malcom thought of retreating.

Just as he was about to do so, Malcom felt something behind him.

When he turned his gaze, he saw a huge, gigantic man with a mallet so big that he shouldn't have been able to lift it and tried to crush the Marked with an attack.

Malcom moved with speed, avoiding the first blow and looking in surprise at the creature. Its skin was whitish, its musculature too large, it averaged much more than two meters, and on its head, a strange helmet pierced by swords covered its entire face.

"A modified corpse!"

Malcom said when he felt another step behind him. Moving with speed, he evaded the cuts that this corpse was attempting, and now the Marked was placed between them.

The huge monster attacked him, and Malcom, with speed, took two cards and threw them in the air in front of it. Both cards rotated in front of its face.

Malcolm quickly took the dagger and turned it into a shield at the precise moment where the spell of the cards was activated.

Huge rotating blades appeared flying in all directions. Some collided with Malcolm's shield while others flew in the direction of the corpses, severing their bodies instantly.

Malcom stood up and looked at one of the corpses. Its hands were huge blades, and he understood that it had been the one who had killed the soldiers at the entrance.

Downstairs the two people were looking at him.

"That damn boy! He killed my pets!" The girl said with an annoyed expression.

Malcom smiled wryly towards her. What's he supposed to do? Stood still and just a wait for the 'her pet' to smash him dead?

"Sarah! He is one of the Marked... lucky us!" The man brightly said before he took a stone out of his pocket. He then added, "Thanks for saving us the trip to look for you!"

And breaking the stone, the entire lair began to move. The room where they have remained the same, but the rest of the place seemed to change drastically. At that moment, Malcom understood.

"Fuck!" Malcom cursed as he tried to run.

"Too late Marked! You are ours!" He said before laughing loudly.

The girl took out one of the coffins from her dress. She said with an evil grin, "Let the fun begin!"
