Chapitre 1: Prologue
'My father is dead.'
The torch completely blinded her left side as Senue's people made way for her to pass.
She dared just a single glance at her father as she lowered the torch to the funeral pyre, but all she saw was a body. He was above her, his face out of sight. The yellow camellias identified him as the former leader of the Honoka Clan, but that was no longer her father.
The realization hit her like a blow, her lips trembling as all the composure she struggled to maintain collapsed in an instant. Her eyes stung, more with tears than with the heat of the spreading fire.
Senue set fire to the other ends of the pyre, and, sobbing, watched as what was left of her father was reduced to ashes.

Derykasd_6247 Just to clarify a few things, since apparently there is no way to use italic text, i will be using apostrophe (') for character thoughts and double quotation marks for character dialogue (").
This is a war drama set in a fictional island in old Japan and i have yet to add a fictional callendar, which is why i do not mention any of the Japanese history eras, all i can say is that it is set before feudalism, so there's no fireweapons or samurai in the novel.
I live in Brazil and english is not my main language, but i hope the translation is decent enough and i plan to publish at least the first half of the first book here before moving on to the second book, so I hope I can get some useful feedback and criticism from you guys. Thanks for landing me some of your time!
