Daphne set the book down, but she couldn't brush away the face from the drawing. Even as she closed hers, she could still see the polite yet yearning gaze.
Where had she seen that face before?
She had definitely seen it before in the past. She would even venture as far as to say that it was somewhat familiar, a part of her memory that she should still be able to recall to this day. However, no matter how hard she racked her brain, it turned up blank.
For the longest time, Daphne had prided herself on her memory. She had memorized the map of the Northern Kingdom within a day, and she even documented the names of important officials and alliances.
Matching a face to a name should have been no issue, much less simply remembering a face.
Yet, it was almost as if there was a gap in her memories that she couldn't quite put her hands on, like a hidden box locked away within her own mind.
