Solis held Noir in a protective embrace for a very long time. He barely noticed the others withdrawing silently from the room – all his attention was focussed on Noir.
Noir was trembling faintly in his arms, with soft, repeated chants of his name. It tore at Solis's heart.
"I'm here, Noir," he kept murmuring over and over again. "I'm here, my little darling. Your Solis is here."
Even with his repeated reassurances, it was some time before Noir felt somewhat stable. After what felt like an eon to Solis, Noir finally raised his head and looked straight into Solis's eyes.
"Solis…you're really here, right? I'm…I'm not hallucinating…am I?" he whispered in a shaking tone of voice.
Solis pressed his lips to Noir's brow. "I am," he said quietly. He caressed Noir's face. "Look at me, my little darling, am I not your Solis?" he asked, his voice very gentle and soft.
