Baron Loui was looking down at his beautiful garden from the balcony of his beautiful two-story mansion. He was wearing a pure white suit that elegantly resonated with the moonlight, his blond hair carefully groomed.
His azure blue eyes followed the red carpet that went from his garden to the stone paved road which was perpendicular to it.
There he saw a long queue of multiple luxurious carriages enter his compound, each of them contained the emissaries of big-time players with lots of influence within the kingdom.
He felt proud as he saw them walk on the red carpet one by one and took seats in his garden awaiting his arrival.
A wide smirk broke out on his face.
[All these important people are here for me! Usually, they would not even glance at a lowly Baron like me, but here they are now gathering like flies to shit.]
He thought to himself clenching a chubby fist.
A voice coming from behind him disturbed his thoughts.
"My Lord, the most important guests are to arrive soon. We should go down now."
Morris said, bowing elegantly with his arm across his chest. He was wearing steel plate armor and had a distinctive scar on the left side of his neck, had brown hair with a shade of grey indicating his age, and a lifeless expression on his face.
Garfield glanced back down to confirm the words of his knight. He narrowed his eyes into the distance and saw two gold carriages of different design and structure drawing closer and closer.
Gold carriages were the epitome of status and wealth, one of these costs a minimum of 50 platinum coins.
Putting things into perspective; A single loaf of bread cost 3 copper coins, 1 silver coin is 100 copper coins, 1 gold coin is 10 silver coins and 1 platinum coin is 100 gold coins!
Garfield descended from his mansion that was worth much less compared to the golden carriages that were approaching him.
He broke into a sweat.
Some of it because he had to walk in a hurry to greet his guests and most of it due to nervousness.
These were people he could not afford to offend; they had the power to annihilate him and his entire family in the blink of an eye and make it as if they never existed in the first place.
He took out a handkerchief and wiped the sweat off of his forehead before turning his head to Morris.
"Look alive Morris!" He said to Morris who had slightly slumped shoulders.
"…Yes, my Lord." He replied awkwardly puffing up his chest.
The first gold carriage which was being pulled by four horses approached and stopped in front of them, it seemed quite spacious and comfortable based on its sheer size.
The coachman hurriedly got off and ran to open the doors of the carriage, and bowed deeply after doing so, not daring to even glance inside the carriage.
Garfield's nostrils flared when he saw the person inside the carriage, which was extremely luxurious, the seats looked more comfortable than all the ones he owned.
He saw a woman wearing a black sparkly dress, he could tell that it was very expensive just by looking at its fabric.
Her black dress exposed her large cleavage which had a pinkish hue, the dress fit her so well it was almost as if she was born to wear it.
On her face was a well-designed white mask that only covered her forehead and cheekbones.
The butler who was sitting opposite to her got out of the carriage first and offered his hand to her, she put on a white glove before grabbing his hand to get off the carriage, afterwards she took it off and threw it at her butler.
Garfield caught a whiff of her scent and it was better than all of the flowers he had in his garden.
Her scent combined with her appearance made his eyes flicker with lust momentarily before he quickly snapped himself out of it.
A part of him wanted to beg her to remove her mask so he could see her face.
"Welcome esteemed guest." Garfield said bowing elegantly.
"Hello Baron." She said in a voice that had a sprinkle of annoyance.
She snapped her fingers and the butler reached into the carriage and retrieved a bag, he then bowed handing to Garfield.
"This is a gift from my master. He says if you have good products for him today, he may allow you to meet with him."
Garfield had no idea who her master was and had been dying to meet them seeing as they are so rich, they were definitely someone of high standing.
Garfield peeked inside the bag and his eyes gleamed with greed after seeing expensive the jewelry and pearls inside the bag.
"Thank you esteemed emissary." Garfield said, smiling with eyes.
"This is Morris one of my strongest knights, he shall escort you to your seats." Garfield added, pointing at Morris.
"Where is the handsome one? I would prefer to get escorted by him. This one looks too gloomy he might sour my mood."
[why the fuck would his appearance matter!?]
Garfield spat inwardly whilst maintaining his smile, he was as good an actor as Katrina.
"My apologies, Seth is preoccupied with other matters… Please go and take your seat as it is almost midnight."
Garfield said, with a bitter smile.
"I have always wondered, why do you begin the auction at midnight?" She asked with her eyes fixed on Garfield.
"… That is just my preference." He replied reluctantly.
In truth he did this because the 'Midnight Eye' a major benefactor of his had requested that he do so.
Even Garfield had no idea why they wanted it to be so.
Morris led them to their seats inside the garden.
Garfield smacked his lips looking at the emissary's figure walking into the garden.
[I shall make her into my concubine the moment I rise to the top.]
Garfield mused, with his eyes licking her all over.
His delusions of grandeur were interrupted by the sound of the golden carriage that was in front of him moving away.
A second golden carriage drawn by two pitch black horses approached Garfield.
He began sweating profusely, to the point where his handkerchief was drenched in sweat rendering it useless.
He was even more nervous than before.
The reason was because the carriage was carrying a Bishop from the Midnight Eye.
A Bishop belonged to the upper echelon in the hierarchy of the cult.
They were basically royalty!
Garfield took deep breaths to calm himself.
The carriage stopped right in front of him.
The coachman nimbly got off the carriage, opened the golden doors and quickly got to his knees and Garfield followed suit and soon after heard a relaxed voice lull his ears.
"Hey Garfield, you break my heart, we are friends are we not? There is no need to bow I have told you this before."
The Bishop said.
Garfield raised his head and his eyes met the eyes of a middle-aged man with long black hair and a friendly expression on his face.
He was wearing a white robe with a long and flat golden strand strapped on each of his shoulders indicating his status, on his chest was the symbol of an eye.
Beside the Bishop Garfield saw a young man with golden hair wearing a grey robe, and a bandage wrapped around his eyes tightly.
This puzzled Garfield who was wondering if he was injured
.
Noticing this the Bishop spoke:
"Worry not, this child is not injured. He is currently a priest on the verge of becoming a high priest, so he is not allowed to use his vision until he does so."
"Thank you for explaining to one such as myself Bishop Bernard!"
Garfield shouted with gratitude whilst bowing deeply.
[Does that mean he is a high C-rank!?? He looks so young though!]
Garfield cried inwardly.
Bernard glanced at the coachman who was still kneeling on the carpet.
"You may go now Deacon."
"Yes, my Bishop… May the midnight eye watch over you."
"May the midnight eye watch over you."
The Bishop and the young Priest said in unison.
Garfield led them into the garden.
Midnight was only a quarter of an hour away and thus the auction was about to begin!
