King Cyrus froze immediately at the mention of the King of Speirs's name within his court. A tense feeling began to envelop the ballroom, and it began to suffocate King Cyrus slowly his appearance becoming pale. His movements felt as if they were not his own when he turned to see if it was indeed the devil who just entered his home.
On the other hand, King Rhys held out his arms as both his mother and sister eloped their arms with his. Walking down the stairs leading into the ballroom in a slow and calculating manner. His eyes roamed the ballroom and stopped on a heart-stopping beauty wearing an emerald green gown with navy blue trimmings. The markings of a woman from the royal Timpeall family.
She was a slender woman that was as beautiful as the moon within the sky. Her thick, wavy, long sable hair cascaded down her back, ending at her waist. Some loose strands framed her heart-shaped face. Her slightly arched chestnut brown eyebrows seemed to highlight her emotions by moving up and down as she reacts to the world around her. Her large nordic blue eyes reminded Rhys of the ocean waves near his home. Her mouth was small, outlined by puffy rose lips... if only he knew the woman he was gazing upon was Amaris herself. His soon to be bride.
Rhys was snapped out of his daze when his mother, Layla, tugged on his arm in hopes to get his attention. "Rhys, are you alright? You seemed to be a bit distracted," Layla stated to her son in a concerned tone. His gaze pulled away from the beauty across the room and placed his eyes upon his mother. "I'm fine mother. I was simply lost in thought," Rhys simply said.
From across the room, Amaris's hand was placed over her heart as she tried to calm down her rapid heartbeat, but it felt as if a caged bird was trying to escape. No matter what she tried, nothing helped when she felt the King of Speir's heated gaze still upon her. Kalilah placed her hand upon Amaris's shoulder and stopped when her daughter seemed to jump out of her skin. "Amaris?" Kalilah questioned her daughter's reaction and went to stand in front of her.
Amaris looked over to her mother and gave a small smile in her direction. "Mother, I am fine. Truly. My mind was just elsewhere. Why have you come to me at this time? Aren't you supposed to be with your father greeting the guest?" Amaris asked as she sighed when her mother began to drag her towards the direction of King Rhys.
"Well, yes, but this particular guest we must greet together," Kalilah said in a whisper to her daughter. Amaris eyes narrowed slightly at her mother's statement but went along with her mother anyway.
Kalilah and Amaris now stood in front of the King of Speir's and his family. "King Rhys, Lady Layla, and Princess Audrey, this is my daughter Princess Amaris," Kalilah introduced. Rhys' eyes light up at the sight of the beautiful woman that captured his attention when he entered the ballroom and to find out she was his bride made him smile. Rhys took Amaris's hand into his, bowing as his place a kiss upon her hand.
"A pleasure to meet you, Princess Amaris," Rhys said in a husky tone, causing Amaris face to turn a light shade of pink. She looked at him and gave him a polite smile.
"Greetings, King Rhys of Speirs. Welcome to our humble Kingdom. I hope you have found everything to your liking so far this night," Amaris tilted her head as she smiled slightly more as his eyes seemed to follow her.
"I'm sure this night will compensate for an enjoyable time this stay," Rhys whispered. Amaris eyes widened with what she heard and looked towards her mother. The latter was oblivious to what Rhys had said as Kalilah talked to Lady Layla. Amaris' eyes slowly went back to Rhys to catch him, giving her a mischievous smile.
"Lady Kalilah, may I dance with your daughter this evening?" Rhys asked. Immediately catching the attention of Kalilah.
Kalilah couldn't help but smile brightly with the question he asked. She was absolutely delighted that the King of Speir's seemed to quickly take an interest in her daughter.
"Of course you can, your majesty," Kalilah said enthusiastically, much to Amaris's embarrassment. Rhys grinned widened as he held out his hand to Amaris. Hesitantly she placed her hand within his grasp as he led her onto the dance floor. The music began to play slowly, and what happened next shocked Amaris.
Rhys turned elegantly, his body in tune with the slow music. Yet, there was a sort of harshness to him, like he was someone who shouldn't be underestimated. Amaris didn't quite care at the moment. Was it because she was falling in love with a boy she hardly knew? The warmth between them grew more powerful by the second. Amaris's heartbeat was increasing steadily along with it. Their dance was perfect; everything from their breathing to how their feet moved stayed in sync. If Amaris's breath was taken away by the end of this dance, she would know the exact reason.
As they continued to dance, Amaris couldn't help but feel countless eyes on them. Rhys senses Amaris's nervousness and pulls her closer towards him. "Relax and let them stare. It's not every day they get to witness a gorgeous woman like yourself," Rhys whispered in Amaris's ear.
Amaris blushed and nodded her head, continuing her dance with Rhys. Once the music came to an end. Those around them began to applaud when they stopped dancing. Rhys simply bowed as Amaris bowed her head before quickly leaving the dance floor. On her way to the garden grounds, she was controlled by a familiar touch.
"Wait, Princess Amaris. I wish to talk to you. Shall we?" Rhys gestured towards the door leading to the garden. Amaris nodded and led the way outside for some privacy for their conversation.
