The entire palace was in an uproar because the Ninth Prince returned safe and sound. It had been over ten days since he left, and many of the workers in the palace had heard about his trial. Most speculated that he would not return, given the grave accusations against him.
As he walked through the palace, Cedric could feel countless eyes on him. Some were curious, some were hateful, but most were disappointed by his return. Cedric could tell that they considered him a disgrace to the Everhart name.
The king received him inside a hall with a long table in the middle. He sat on one end, facing the door. Around him were his advisors, the council, and some of the nobility of the kingdom. All chatter stopped once the herald announced that the Ninth Prince, Cedric Everhart, had returned.
