Synopsis
Growing up in a cursed world, brought up in a country of warriors and soldiers, Nero was always eager for the day he would awaken his innate ability, and gain the chance to become an Eldrim Card master! Eager for the day he could fight against hell, hail and damnation itself and rid the world of its many curses.
But the day his older brother was framed and sent to the frontlines to die, he woke up to a new truth. The notions of his youth - camaraderie, brotherhood, patriotism - they are all fake, and in the eyes of the powerful he and his ilk were just cannon fodder. In this cursed world, humans were curses too.
He continued to wait for the day he could awaken power and rid the world of its curses - all of them!

Écrire un avisThis is a great story so far. I've waited until the end of Volume 1 to give my review. Overall, I think the novel is quite unique, blending different elements from various genres, which I found both captivating and thrilling. The main character is exactly as he should be. In terms of his initial awareness and the adventures he experiences, he is gradually becoming overpowered, but the writing has handled his development perfectly so far, in my opinion. The world has a sense of mysticism and feels dangerous, which I really enjoyed. I think it would be great to include more details later on, perhaps about the world's background and the reasoning behind its divisions. Other than that, I had a fantastic time reading, and I'll continue to support both this novel and the author. Cheers!
Mandatory shameless author review: this is an excellent book with an exceptionally handsome author- I mean main character. I put a lot of work into the world and story for this, and have every intention to maintain a high quality of work throughout. There will be some humour here and there, I literally cannot avoid it even if I wished, but the book will generally be much more serious and dark compared to my other work if you are familiar with it. Please do give this a try. I hope you like it!
The author’s writing skills have progressed since his previous work, The Innkeeper, particularly in that expectations set are upheld. The storyline and setting are great. The characters are decent and likable. However, the writing quality itself needs improvement. On the minor side, there are plentiful small grammatical errors, run-on sentences, and a notable amount of info dumping. The work’s major flaw is the unnecessary, indirect, awkward, and abstract phrasing. This is particularly glaring in action scenes. Too often the MC’s direct senses are avoided or obfuscated. Instead, there is an uncalled-for post-analysis topdown view of events. It takes the reader out of the action. Direct advice to the author: Please use direct phrasing. Write “It was this,” rather than, “He felt it was this,” or “He knew it was this,” or “It seemed like it was this.” Describe the MC experiences without processing them through a third party’s perspective. Avoid abstractions in fight scenes. Don’t write “Their fight, almost too fast for Nero to follow, seemed like a masterwork of a performance,” (quick example from chapter 9). Instead, write what is being sensed. For example, “A series of clangs rang out, as Invictus’s spear parried the colorful blur of magical sword attacks with masterful precision.” The second quote conveys similar information in a more detailed, direct, and exciting fashion. It gives us direct sound and sight without referring to Nero as the filter. This work could shine and garner greater popularity with an external editor or better self-editing that pays particular attention to the above flaws.
Here from the InnKeeper. So far, I am not disappointed. Writing Quality: It is stellar. I have yet to see any errors or weird phrases in which cause me pause, yet still it is complex and intriguing enough to grab my attention. Updating Stability: Once again, stellar. If his other novel’s 1000+ every day posts wasn’t good enough. He is doing it here as well. Story development: A different pace from the Innkeeper no doubt. One I am certainly interested in. Expanding on its unique power system and the role of these figures who hold power. It has done well thus far. Character Design: Nero is one of my favorite characters I’ve read. His personality seems to be one of determination and drive. Early on he recognized the avenues of growth. And he’s taking them. Following this concept, the other characters don’t seem to lack. Making me want to know more about them. Which is always impressive. World Background: This world is once again complex. Delightfully so. Although their is so many questions to be asked, so much has already given. And no holes that seem like it was overlooked rather than implanted exist. So overall? 5/5stars. ATM I am currently behind, chapter 49. I do look forward to finishing the fast pass grind and catching up. Cause it is worth the wait.
Spoiler de révélationthe story starts like the drawing of a painting, slowly adding color, yeti even in the early chapter we got a lot of plot points. I see some Connection between Grant and Lex, I hope he will bloom in a beatifull new character. Good luck author and great job so far.
Heavily underrated, writing is as good as it gets, flows really well. The MC is near-perfect but still has his imperfections and LEARNS from them. Wholesome family moments, no harem, unique and simple power system as well as past mystery/history that ties everything together perfectly and gets the mind running with ideas. If there’s one thing you should take from this review, it’s that you should read it. [img=recommend]
Man I just gotta say that I absolutely love the way you write. I’ve been a full privilege supporter of The InnKeeper for almost a year now and in my eyes, it’s absolutely worth it. I can’t believe you are writing a second book but was filled with joy at the fact that I have accidentally stacked 200 more chapters to read. Only 15 chapters deep into this one and I already fell in love again. 5 stars as always man keep at it
Everything is awesome thus far (chap 117)! Both of Lifesketchers novels are certainly like a breath of fresh air. Lots of engaging aspects. Small spoiler —-> Nero's way of thinking is espessialy interesting and conductive to personal growth.
It's a good story with an interesting world and characters. I love the cards and the way they are made and used. The MC has past trauma of losing his brother to a ploy he didn't expect in the idealized nation. It turned his view askew and it shows in his decisions. He has a clear goal and works singlemindedly toward it. The other characters feel alive and aren't there to serve the MC only. I have binged so far but am out of coins. Will continue once I have saved up some more. It deserves far more love and attention than it gets. Absolutely recommend this.
Hey, it's an extremely well thought and planned novel, the element of mystery revolving the utterly great. MC is not some character with any cheats or system, plus with no edgy or cringe attitude. World building looks quite interesting, so far is probably one of the best I have came across including anime, novel, and books, movies ( however movie hardly have decent world building).
La historia es atrapante y las escenas son muy vivídas y detalladas. Me gusta mucho el personaje de Nero, con mucha disciplina y carácter.
This novel is exceptionally well made. The language flows well, the power concept is very original and it blends many genres together seamlessly. Nero is a very layered mc that avoids all the usual annoying mc tropes so far and has a genuine personality. The world is extremely interesting and the supporting characters are distinct and fleshed out. Easy five star.

solid read, some sections of chapters are kinda info dumpy but other than that it's super good so far I really enjoy it
I’m writing this review while the novel only has 26 chapters. The writing quality is great so far and the only complaint I have is that there aren’t more chapters yet. This isn’t this author’s first novel and with their other story they have shown that they can plan a good narrative and keep it interesting over time, so I have high hopes for this one as well.

5/5 The best novel I have red in the last couple month. It has an immense potential, as long as author does not mess it ups. World building is amazing an interesting plot calm and collected mc who makes reasonable choices, he has his own negative side but who doesn't . I would say this novel has an potential to be in the tops one day. RECOMMEND!!!!!!!
