Avery's brain reeled as actuality snapped back into place. She staggered, her heart beating, clutching Lucas' elbow for support and attempting to shake off the dizzying dizziness. The blinding brightness of the disintegrating dimension faded, leaving them again on Blackthorn's campus, surrounded by the eerie silence of early morning.

For a brief moment, the weight of their ordeal pressed down on her, but she just had time to catch her breath before a kick back crept up her backbone. Shadows flitted across the threshold of her creative and clairvoyant, an uncanny presence lurking in the air.

"Did… did we definitely make it back?" She muttered, her voice barely audible.
