Chapitre 17: Chapter 17: Echoes of Regret

As the first light of dawn began to filter through the windows of the prince's chambers, Seraphina lay on the bed, her heart heavy with the weight of the night's events. Though the prince's words had cut her deeply, she bore no physical bruises, for he had always been careful not to harm her in that way.

But the wounds inflicted upon her spirit ran deep, and as she gazed into the prince's eyes, she saw the pain and regret etched upon his face. His usual arrogance had melted away, replaced by a vulnerability that touched something deep within her soul.

"I'm sorry," he murmured, his voice tinged with regret. "I didn't mean to be so rough with you."

Seraphina's heart clenched at the sincerity in his words, her own eyes brimming with unshed tears. For so long, she had seen only the prince's cruelty and disdain, his actions leaving scars upon her spirit that she feared would never heal.

But now, as she looked into his eyes, she saw a glimmer of something different—a flicker of remorse, a longing for redemption that mirrored her own. And in that moment, Seraphina knew that perhaps there was hope for them yet, that beneath the layers of pain and resentment lay the possibility of healing and forgiveness.

"I understand," she replied softly, her voice gentle and forgiving. "We've both been blinded by our circumstances, but it's not too late to change."

The prince nodded, his expression grave. "You're right," he admitted. "I've never hurt any woman before, but tonight... I lost control."

Seraphina reached out a hand to touch his arm, her touch light and reassuring. "We can learn from our mistakes," she said, her voice filled with quiet determination. "We can choose to be better, to do better."

For a long moment, they lay there in silence, the weight of their shared remorse hanging heavy in the air. But as the first light of dawn crept across the room, Seraphina felt a glimmer of hope stir within her—a hope born of forgiveness and understanding, of the possibility of a new beginning amidst the ashes of their past mistakes. And as she looked into the prince's eyes, she knew that together, they could find their way out of the darkness and into the light.
