Chapitre 161: The Green-Eyed Monster

When I finally made it back to my rooms well after midnight, I was slumped with exhaustion. I'd been so certain of my choice earlier in the night, but all the conversation, Stark's warnings, dealing with Emory—everything suddenly made me doubt myself.

But I remembered something my father and Stark had both told me multiple times in training for war: There was no such thing as a decision without risk. It was only whether the potential cost was worth the potential reward.

Yet, nothing was worth losing Zara.

Had I made a grave error? Or would I look back on this day and applaud myself? There was no way to know, and yet the questions, doubts, arguments, and counter-arguments continued to circle in my head.

Stark had accompanied me and strode along just behind me, but Kaspar and Erik were waiting for us in my sitting room looking very grim. Erik turned quickly when I walked in, like he was guilty, and adrenaline shot through me.
