"Nice view from up here, wouldn't you say?" I looked at the man who was gazing out of the windows on the 82nd floor of the Vought tower. Gustavo Frin–, I mean Stan Edgar.
"Well, of course, the view is nice." I walked up and stood next to him, looking at him from the side.
"That is, if I didn't have seven snipers ready to blow my head to bits." I chuckled as I noticed his expression didn't change, even after I exposed his contingency.
"You have a sharp eye, Mr. Campbell," he complimented me as he walked over to his desk and sat down in his chair. I did the same, sitting opposite him.
"Now, let's discuss business, shall we?" He went straight to the point after a little show of casualness. Well, this is going to rock his world.
"I'm going to need two full doses of the blue stuff, Original." I said without breaking eye contact, staring at him with the same intensity he had for me. His face showed a slight twitch, but other than that, no reaction—nada.
"I'm afraid I don't understand what you're referring to, Mr. Campbell," he said with a smile that didn't reach his eyes, his usual pause lingering for a second. Well, isn't the old bastard charming?
"You know, the thing that you pump little kids on the daily to make your Supes," I replied as I reached for my phone in my pocket. And voila, I had seven red dots on various parts of my torso.
"Can't a man take his phone out to show you how much he knows?" I said with a slight grin as the dots disappeared.
"Here, look at this." I slid my phone to him. He took it and stared at the screen, his eyes widening.
"I have a little skill in technology, you see. It was rather easy to hack into the main server of the Sage Grove Center in Pennsylvania." His face showed a different reaction now—shock and maybe a hint of awe or respect? I didn't know, but I wanted to take my V and get out as soon as possible.
He leaned forward and placed my phone on the table before sliding it back to me, turning to the side and pressing a button to contact a doctor from the 67th floor.
"Don't talk, listen. Get me the original dose of Compound V. And two of ours as well. Don't be seen by anyone." He disconnected the call and turned his cold eyes to me.
"The last vial of the original Compound V—it was never meant to be used, only experimented upon to understand how Frederick Vought created it," he said, his gaze sharp.
"Well, now that can never happen because of you." Oddly enough, he looked impressed, not angry. Was he acting? I hope not.
"Well, what can I say, I'm a bit of a troublemaker." I smiled back at him and slid my phone into my pocket. "But that will do.."
"How about working for me, Mr. Campbell?"
Wow, that's quite the offer. Still, I don't know when little Stanny might rat me out, or even worse, I can't trust guys like these.
"Not for free, of course. You'll get the benefit of a safe space, away from the authorities and Supes. Naturally, this extends to your family as well. You'll only answer to me."
A more tempting offer, but being under this guy's constant surveillance is bad news. I wouldn't be able to experiment on that V freely either.
"How about I call you after thinking it over?" I said. He nodded and glanced toward the door as it opened.
The doctor entered with a box, placed it on Edgar's desk, and looked at him for approval. Edgar nodded, and the doctor left.
Edgar slid the box toward me. I opened it and saw three vials neatly arranged—one was different from the others, its liquid a deep, almost purple, shade of blue.
"Well, a deal's a deal. I'll delete everything I have on you after confirming this is the real thing." I looked up from the box, then stood and closed it.
"Of course," he said, nodding as he opened the door. I walked out of the room, carrying a box with three vials of Compound V.
In the comics, one dose of Compound V was worth around 19 billion dollars or something, so I could say I'm holding billions in my hands.
Looking at my phone, I saw the date: May 18, 2019. "Well, time to get this shitshow started." I then walked out of the building, moved through an alley, and emerged on the other side.
[Black Noir has been following you since you left the building.]
Of course, little Stanny wouldn't let anyone get away with such a precious item, would he? I pulled out my phone and opened Vhatsapp—yes, Vought bought WhatsApp and renamed it.
Let's send little Stanny a little something. I then took a cab to my rented warehouse, far from home.
And yes, Stanny must have liked that, since Black Noir isn't on my ass after seeing those pictures. I'm sure dear Nadia would be happy to help me, even if unknowingly.
'Now, let's start with the prime objective of today. Analyze it, Great Sage.' I opened the box after placing it on top of a table in the warehouse and took out the original vial, which I confirmed was real when I saw it.
[Notice: Analyzing Compound V... Complete.]
'Well, what can you tell me about it?' I asked, eager to know what this stuff is made of and how it grants normal humans abilities.
[[Compound V is a mysterious chemical that is a combination of various substances, granting humans or animals super abilities.
It works similar to nuclear fusion: when the liquid is injected into the bloodstream of a subject—be it human or non-human—the reaction creates a new energy.
The energy varies from subject to subject. Compound V in its purest form will make one ageless and grant them great abilities, even by Supe standards.]
'Can you create Compound V now that you've analyzed it?' I asked, holding the original vial—the last one in this world—in my hands.
[Of course, I can create Compound V in its purest form.]
Well, well, I might just create one and give it to Dad, even though I don't think he'll want to live forever.
'Could you calculate the chances of me dying if I take this thing?' I asked, looking at the blue-purple shaded liquid.
[The chances of you dying before the V is in your bloodstream are 10%, but if it's all in the bloodstream, I would be able to optimize the V and your body to take it without any consequences.]
'Would you be able to inject it yourself? Because I don't have anyone I trust to do it for me.' I took a syringe and began to draw the V into it, continuing until the last drop was in the syringe.
[If you grant me permission, I can take over your body to do the needful; it will also nullify any pain this might cause as well.]
Well, I don't know if I should trust this, but I'll take the gamble. "Alright, permission granted," I said and walked to the bed in the warehouse, laying down on it.
[Notice: Permission granted to take over the body to inject Compound V into the individual Hugh Campbell.]
[Activating Auto Battle Mode.]
I felt my consciousness sink into darkness as I heard the last bit. Oh man, did I mess up?
********
What abilities would you guys suggest to give him? Remember, he took the original version which Soldier Boy and Stormfront took..
