Chapitre 13: Playing with fire

The silence stretched between them like a razor-thin wire, ready to snap.

Maria moved closer, her professional demeanor sliding like a mask. 

"Suzanne, you don't understand the complexity of what you're pursuing."

"Who said I needed to understand everything before I took a step?"

"It's not that, it's not what you think."

"Then explain it to me," she challenged, standing her ground.

Maria was silent again, she brought out a USB from her bag. "Diana's final research. The last thing she compiled before her 'accident'."

Suzanne's hand twitched—barely perceptible, only one question was burning non-stop in her head. 

How did Maria get all this evidence? How did she get all these!

"The U&K contract wasn't just a business transaction," Maria continued. "It was a cover. For something much darker."

Suzanne's eyes locked with Maria's. "What does it mean?"
