Chapitre 19: A storm before the calm

Suzanne's heartbeat accelerated. She demanded, her voice now shaking,

 "Tell me where you've been. Where did you go? You and Josie were together right? What's the reason behind your relationship with her?" 

The words were painful, unvarnished, and she immediately felt regret for the sharpness of her voice. But it was there, in the open. 

That which had been bothering her ever since she saw Andrei with Josie at the mall. His connection to her, the way their interactions seemed more he had been with her later sister. It felt like a dagger to her chest, and she had to know the truth.

But Andrei only sighed, a long, exhausted exhale that seemed to carry the weight of a thousand unspoken words. He moved again, this time brushing past her, his hand still working at his shirt, his fingers slowly unbuttoning it as if nothing had happened. As if they weren't standing in the middle of a storm.
