Chapitre 2: Chapter 1

"Ashen one, hearest thou my voice still?". The first flames had started to die.

The eternal curse of the Ashen one has finally succumbed to the long river of time.

A world has ended, but there was not a single being to mourn it.

After countless powerful souls were sacrificed to the flame, the flame gradually gained a little form of sentience.

A newborn flame so old yet young.

So wise yet ignorant.

The old and wise flame understood that it was coming to an end. But its young and innocent mind still wished to live.

Gathering all its potential, the young flame was able to burn a small hole in the fabrics of the multiverse itself.

Just as it was about to complete the hopeless endeavor of trying to survive yet again, it grew weary.

How many souls were sacrificed for it? How many innocents burn themselves for it? Its immature self only wanted to escape, but the old and weary self has long wished to end their suffering alongside all.

"One final spark," it thought to itself. As the flames of a world burn out, one spark was able to escape.

[On a distant new world]

A spark landed in the middle of a military base, it burned bright and short. Fire alarms went off but no flames were formed. All that remained was a woman who was there out of nowhere.

She was wearing garments as if she still lived in the Middle Ages. There was a metal blindfold over her eyes, and she appeared to be unconscious. Her golden hair is tied but still spreads out easily. As doctors carried her into their ward, a man with an eyepatch was demanding answers from his subordinates.

"Someone tell me what this is all about" said Nick Fury in his usual tone that showed almost no emotions.

"Well, sir all of us went out after the fire alarms went off. She appeared out of nowhe-".

"Thank you, agent, but I know that much. I am asking about who she is and how she came in. And why were the recordings burned out?".

This time, a seemingly scientist in a lab coat answered instead. "We believe that the high amount of energy caused the wires to be burnt. This is also why the lights aren't working. As for who and how she got here, we are still trying to figure it out.".

"How is she?", Fury asked again.

"Still unconscious, sir." replied the agent.

Fury still looking as emotionless as ever asked yet again,

"Coulson, tell me what you think this means".

The agent now known as Coulson looked resigned.

"I have no idea sir.". They both went silent.

[A few days later]

The firekeeper watched as the world faded into darkness and there was supposed to nothing then. Instead, she felt darkness. She should not feel anything. That should be it. Her story should have come to an end. She should have had eternal rest.

She wondered if this was how the ashen one felt when he come back to life once again after dying horribly.

She wondered why the godly ones who abandoned their lofty thrones would need her when there were other firekeepers.

She wondered if the ashen one still lives.

She wondered how the world would look like now.

She wondered if she was in the afterlife.

She wondered and pondered while waiting to wake up.

Then, she woke up and saw the lights. That was the first thing that felt wrong. Firekeepers were allowed to keep their eyes in the days of the old. Eventually, the tradition of blinding firekeepers emerged due to the fact that they might see visions of the world without the fire.

She sat up on what seems like a bed. It was white for the most part. With mystical lights that seemed to need no fire. Though, she still had no eyes she could still see for some reason. "You're awake", said a voice next to her.

She slowly turned her head to the voice. She saw a man with an eye patch. He was wearing a long black leather clothing. He was alone. She noticed that they were alone in what seems like a medical ward.

"Who might you be and how did you get here?", asked the man again, this time with more of what seems like authority.

Though he still is speaking in her tounge, it sounds a little different from what she is used to. Still, she managed to understand him perfectly fine. It was a curious thing.

"Apologies, gentleman you may address my as firekeeper as I hath no name. I assure thee that I mean no harm and 'twas a blunder committed most involuntary."

As the man deepened his face into a scowl, she continued, "If thou could say to me where I am, I shall leave you in your dwelling as soon as I can.".

The man continued to speak in his strange accent while gazing right where her eyes would be if she had them, "You are currently in New York and inside one of my bases. Also, why are you speaking English in an old way?".

Her words right after that, seems to have send the man down a spiral.

"Pardon me, but I have neither the knowledge of the land thee call New York nor the language thee call English. And it appears that thou art speaking mine tounge in a most strange accent."
