Reqiel didn't even have to go up the stairs to knock on the doors to Aethel's palace because she came running out just as he stepped on the first stair.

"Reqiel! What a surprise… Where's your bodyguard?" She asked, pausing on the middle stair.

Reqiel frowned a bit at that odd question, "I was just coming to pay you a visit, I didn't think it was necessary to bring him along." He explained, walking up to meet her.

Aethel didn't hide her disappointment at this response, "But you brought him," She said, referring to Sarell.

Reqiel quietly shared a gaze with Sarell at this, at a loss for words. It had just been a day that he didn't see Aethel, how could she change so much in such a short time?

Aethel realized that she had misspoke at that moment, "I'm sorry about that, I'm a little tired. Would you like to come in?" She invited him politely with a smile that didn't touch her eyes.
