What actually happened was that Kyran blocked Rayven's access to Ryley's body by using the power of Fraternite Essence Ryley had inherited from Medea. 

It allowed him to bounce Rayven's mantra and send that bastard straight to the house of mirrors in the Passing Realm, which was exactly where Ryley was heading to with the guide of the three light pearls.

Not just that, he had also blocked Rayven's way from entering his body again by letting his fingertips touch Tristan's earlier. 

He might have done it to show his chivalry towards Ryley, but he wasn't planning to withdraw from his real goal.
