Chapitre 30: Prerequisite

"This is..." Shi Li couldn't believe what he saw. Tian Zhenfei, the senior that made the red pearl for him, was actually cultivating the same sword technique he obtained.

"No, there's something off." As Shi Li continued to watch Tian Zhenfei's display of sword skills, he noticed that every element-infused slash Tian Zhenfei made brought out the most basic characteristics of the element, making it feel like it was reality. The Flame Slash, Water Slash, Earth Slash, all of these were done by Tian Zhenfei and Shi Li made mental notes as he watched.

But then...something special happened not long after.

At the moment when Shi Li expected that Tian Zhenfei would slash out with two elements, a slash infused with only a single element came out. It was as basic as the Flame Slash and the other one element slashes, but it shocked Shi Li for it held the element of...

Wind.

Wind, an element that ranges from soft breezes to torrential storms in terms of intensity. Nonetheless, only one thing stood out from the Wind element.

Speed.

From the novels Shi Li has read, those who focus on the Wind element end up becoming faster and more agile than their peers. Shi Li wanted to learn that slash.

But not long after, another slash shocked Shi Li once more.

This time, the slash was infused with intense sharpness. It was as if looking at directly would cut their eyes into two. A ferocious sharpness that no one wants to face.

Shi Li pondered for a bit as he watched and then muttered the word, "Metal."

Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Metal.

According to the novels Shi Li has read, these five elements are the building blocks of everything that surrounds us. Although he did not know how it works, he had a feeling he would eventually understand someday.

"Shi Li." All of a sudden, a voice that Shi Li heard once started to talk to him. He didn't know where it came from, but he was excited since he knew who was talking.

"Senior!" Shi Li couldn't help but smile as he looked at the Tian Zhenfei in front of him who was still slashing.

Although the Tian Zhenfei in front of him didn't open his mouth, he was quite sure that the voice came from there.

"Shi Li, since you've viewed this memory. It either seems that you started training sword martial techniques, or found the same sword technique but wanted a reference for it." As if Tian Zhenfei was reading Shi Li's mind, Tian Zhenfei started to speak.

"This technique in front of you is the [Five Element Sword Technique], a sword technique at the Peak Mortal grade. To cultivate this technique, one must have to cultivate the [Three Element Sword Technique] at the Elite level before starting."

Tian Zhenfei then continued, "If you don't have the [Three Element Sword Technique], I'd suggest picking another sword technique to cultivate. I have other memories of sword techniques that don't need any prerequisites to cultivate, although they lack when it comes to power and flexibility."

Hearing the last statement that came from Tian Zhenfei, it seemed that Tian Zhenfei prepared this dialogue for Shi Li just in case he entered his memories.

As Shi Li was pondering on whether to choose this technique or not, an influx of information entered his brain regarding the sword technique Tian Zhenfei mentioned.

Seeing that the technique was given to him, he had no choice but to skim over it.

"Hmm..." Shi Li had his eyes closed as he checked the technique page by page.

All of a sudden, Shi Li opened his eyes. "This is..."

Not long after, Shi Li grabbed his wooden sword and shouted, "Alright! Let's cultivate hard so I can reach the Elite level!"

...

A week has passed since Shi Li started to arduously cultivate the [Three Element Sword Technique].

During this time, Shi Xingwan obtained a message in his room from a wisp of qi.

As he read the message that was contained in the qi wisp, Shi Xingwan couldn't help but stand up and shout, "What!?"

"You're telling me that the Red Dawn Pavillion in our town is selling the Seal Breaker Pill?"

According to what the message said, the Seal Breaker Pill was a Grade 2 Cultivation Pill that enabled those at the Martial Master and Grand Martial Master realm to have boosted chances of success at breaking through to the Martial Lord realm.

At that instant, Shi Xingwan sent multiple wisps of qi to those that handled the assets of the clan. Within these wisps of qi contained only one message.

"Keep your eyes on the Red Dawn Pavillion. According to what I've heard, they're selling the Seal Breaker Pill a few weeks from now. Better make sure that around 50% of our assets are saved so we can buy the pill."

After he said that, he sat down and turned his chair around, facing the large bay window behind him. Behind the window was a view of the whole Shi clan, the clan that he grew up in, and the clan he wanted to protect the most.

"Huang clan..." Shi Xingwan sighed and muttered as he squinted his eyes that were filled with killing intent.

"I'm sure you have your eyes on the pill as well. Let's see who wins."

...

During this past week, Shi Li has devoted most of his time to cultivating the three techniques he had to the peak of the second level, learning more equipment to forge from his master Shi Zhang, and of course, cultivating the [Three Element Sword Technique] to successfully unleash the Flame Slash.

Shi clan, Shi Li's courtyard.

"Haah!"

Bang!

As Shi Li slashed down with his wooden sword, a strong gust of wind was formed, toppling multiple things over, making the room look messy. Although that was the case, Shi Li did not mind the messy surroundings, instead he was elated to see that he has made progress.

"I can feel like something is going to burst once I slash. I should grab this feeling and let it burst out!"

Shi Li took a few deep breaths as he pondered over the feeling he felt a while ago as he slashed. Calming his heart down, he raised his sword over his head as he slashed down once more, with the intent of letting everything burst.

"Haah!"

Bang!

At this moment, a faint sword light could be seen moving through the room as a large gust of wind was formed. This sword light was faint orange in color as it held a terrifying amount of power. Once it collided with the wall, a large mark was formed with char marks all over it.

Shi Li stood in place dazed at the slash he has made. He blinked his eyes twice and then pinched himself just to see if he was dreaming.

"Ouch," he said. At this moment, he definitely knew he wasn't dreaming. He did do that slash. Realizing that he has successfully done it, he couldn't help but laugh out loud and say...

"I did it! I've finally executed the Flame Slash!"
