Chapitre 31: Advice about Blasters

The beautiful alien stands next to me and draws her blaster, and points it down the range. She shoots a couple of times, and all shots hit the target. Her hand doesn't shake slightly between shots. "When you fire your blaster, you twitch involuntarily. This is because you lack the experience to fire the weapon with confidence. While the improvement in accuracy will take time. If you find the right teacher, it'll go by faster." So that means if Durado personally tutors me about this, then I can end up with a trait that improves my accuracy with a blaster.

This means that piloting will have traits associated with it, which means I'll need a mentor for that too. I'm sure Durado can teach me a lot about fighting and tracking down criminals, but I don't know if he can teach me anything about piloting. "I'm surprised there aren't faster ways for us players to gain traits that help us..." I talk to myself out loud, but a thought crosses my mind. I don't need a trait to do the heavy lifting for me. I could make something that aims for me. A mechanism integrated into the blaster to compensate for the random jots coming from my wrists.

I have several designs already coming through my head. All the parts that I need are at the workshop, and now that I have a solution. I say my thanks to the lady and leave. I head back to the spaceport and make my way to the starship store. I head into the back workshop and to one of the working tables. I set my blaster down and head into the inventory room. I grab all the necessary pieces and tech and bring them to the table. I take the weapon apart and spend the next 30 minutes installing the miniature computer and setting up the program.

Once done installing the tech. I put the blaster together, and it's ever so slightly heavier. I hold it and aim. My hand twitches every so often, but the blaster compensates for it. I place it back in its holster and attach it to my belt. I head outside the shop and back to the shooting range. I set up the target and start firing. I hit almost every shot now. I noticed the lady that helped me is still here practicing. She sees that I have returned and is looking at me with surprise. She walks up to my side and watches me hit the target over and over.

I adjust the range and hit the shots further and closer. The adjustment I made to the weapon has improved greatly out of 10 shots. I can hit 9 of them. A loophole that only I can overcome. Any time I lack the necessary traits, I can make a piece of tech that helps. "How did you do it?" I turn my head towards the lady with the blaster still pointing downrange. "How did you go from barely hitting your shots to this?" I don't want to give up any information regarding what I did to the blaster. While it could be very profitable, some things are better left to me.

I holster the blaster and fully turn to her. "Your advice really helped. It gave me the insight that I didn't have without the experience that you have. I wouldn't have figured out a solution so fast." She places her hands on her hips, not believing the bullshit I'm spewing. "Not buying it, huh?" She shakes her head and sighs. She turns around without saying a word and walks over to who I assume are her friends. I leave the shooting range and head towards the spaceport once again. I make my way into the offices once I reached the store, and I entered the apartment.

I take a load off on the couch and feel like now is a good time to get off. I'll hop right on before the flight test for my pilot's license. I'll make a few last-minute adjustments to the ship, make sure it compensates for my poor piloting skills. I log off of The Aeternus Universe and I flutter my eyes open as the gaming pod opens. It's earlier morning here in the real world, and have about 5 hours to see what's going on this side of reality. I make my way to the kitchen and I see Jess sitting on the couch, watching the TV.
