Chapitre 15: Chapter 15

Tanda could wait no longer and went to the tents of the warriors of Son of the Condor. The woman was spectacular in her Timotocuicas princess costume, which showed all her power. Her step left a scent of flowers that made the warriors smell the air in rapture, while that being passed in front of them.

--As you have not come to visit me, I came to enjoy your presence,"-- said the princess with a beautiful smile, showing her charms, which could drive a god mad, raise a dead man from his grave, but that left Son of the Condor indifferent.

--You must excuse me," --said the pregnant cacique, seeing that beautiful body, so poorly concealed by the young woman's costume,-- "it was very sudden for me.

--I will make you very happy," ---said the young woman suddenly, very softly, raising her mouth to the warrior's ear, ---"I have been trained for that. I have a world of surprises just for you.

The other swallowed thickly. Not even a blind dead man could be indifferent to that portentous woman. But the problem was that he had Xixata deep inside his skin. For his part, Tanda had no remote intention of waiting for the wedding night. She knew that from that position she would erase all competition.

--I must answer to your father for you,"-- said the son of the Condor, moving very slowly away from that dangerous presence.

-- You must answer to me," ---said the girl with her lips parted, waiting for a kiss.

This definitely frightened Son of the Condor, desperately looking around, looking for a way to escape. The girl understood.

--I know," --she suddenly said angrily, abandoning her precautions for the moment, --"it's her, isn't it? It's that little hick with skirts, who slurps your soul .... and has you bewitched with Inca witchcraft. Well, let me tell you that I am more female than she is, and you gave my father a word.

--And I keep my word," ---said the frightened prince.

--I hope so," ---said the beautiful woman, completely enraged, leaving the tent violently, after giving the man a tremendous blow in the chest.

That night Xixata saw the cloudless sky, which was illuminated by that gigantic cold moon. She felt melancholic. Behind her back, in the most absolute silence, Son of the Condor standing behind her spoke to her.

--You should have said it all, I thought you were braver,"--- said the man.

The girl turned to her beloved and without thinking twice, slapped him twice.

--The one who should have said it all was you,"-- she said angrily, her eyes shining with tears,--- "you are the man for a reason. But I saw your fear before my father. You swore that we would both die after confessing and you didn't do it. Sure, now you dress Tanda better and you want her naked in your bed too. That's great. The official wife and the mistress. How good is life for you!

--I don't want to lose you," ---said the anguished young man, "I want to live a life with you. But here and now.

--You want a life with both of us; with Tanda's waist and hips,--- Xixata finished, blind with rage, demonstrating that in spite of her serenity and tranquility, she was also a descendant of the Capac.

The man tried to embrace her. But Xixata hit him hard, giving him gigantic scratches on his back; while the man tried to dominate her, in silence they continued fighting, until they fell on the cold ground, where with an overflowing frenzy they began to love each other like two animals in heat. In the darkness Blue Bird had watched the scene in horror.

The next morning Xixata passed by her mother; the young woman had scrapes on her elbows and knees, product of the passion of the previous night and as she passed, she could not help but lower her gaze and hurry her pace.

Altulay watched her pass by and analytically observed her walk and her hips.

--Xixata," he said, ---"turn around and come here.

The girl obeyed and turned back to her mother, trying to hold her gaze. Her mother grabbed her violently by the cleavage and pulled her to herself, bringing her face closer to her.

--Careful, Xixata,---" the woman chewed each word in a very low voice, staring the girl in the eyes, ---"you smell different and you walk like a satisfied female. Be careful, it could go very badly.

Xixata did not answer and retreated, feeling faint, as she felt the thump of her clinejas as she shook with her quick step, escaping from the place.

Altulay as best he could sat on the steps of a nearby staircase and placed his hands on his forehead while muttering a prayer. He shuddered. For a moment he felt the impending sense of danger coming from the south. From his father's throne.

Ave Azul called Xixata, who was walking along carrying weaving utensils. Xixata attended to her stepmother.

--Xixata--," she said in the beautiful singing voice of the Carib women, ---"I accidentally saw you last night and I was frightened. Not because of love, but because of sin. You disgrace your parents, that boy and above all yourself. I don't even want to think what will happen when you are discovered.

--- You know it,"--- said the girl, ---"it's true, I don't deny it. It is a sin against everyone. But we don't care, we want to be found out and if not we will soon tell.

--- You want the whole world to know," --said the frightened woman.

--Yes. We don't care; it is better to die than not to be together. I couldn't live an hour seeing him married to my sister.

Your father would not know how to deal with such a terrible worry as that. It would be giving your great Grandfather every excuse to make his plans.

I am ready to flee to the green hell or to your hot islands out there in the warm sea where you come from," ---said the girl almost choked with pitiful sobs.

Ave Azul embraced her. He felt the unhappiness of the young girl. He felt that a destiny was also beginning in her. Another path. Another approach.

They both looked at each other. They had felt it.

Ita Za Berú and her brother had a secret meeting. They were in the temple of Viracocha, with the supposed idea of making an offering to the great god and asking him for protection against the barbarian peoples that were ravaging the southern banks of the Orinoco River, displacing the Pemones, who in turn were invading and destroying the crops on the slopes and savannahs of the hot plains. But their prayers were gone and a very different conversation was going on among them.

---Here is what was offered," ---said Ita Za Beru triumphantly, while showing some shiny uniforms of the Inca army, ---"with this we will disguise the men for the mission and this is the plan. The man continued.

----King Litu Ratú comes with his wife, who is with child, but by their customs they can never leave her husband.

----A Caribe.

----Yes; a Caribe, the sister of Ave Azul.

--How rich!" ---said Rut Za Berú, unable to contain herself.

Ita glared at him with her eyes and said under her breath with hatred, "

---Shut up, you sadistic bastard. Then she continued.

I was saying that the king logically comes by the royal road. If anything he will bring fourteen men and we are supposed to receive him. They will be our men dressed as Inca; he as a guest in our territory has no precautions. Then it will be very easy to kill them quickly. Our second group will make an encirclement in the area and ambush the real Chibcha escort, we must eliminate them too. I will be at the site, I will collect the corpses of Litu Ratú, his wife, one or another escort and some of our own... I will arrive at the palace and publicly accuse Saba Tamac of murder and of endangering the kingdom. You will take the palace, to eliminate Altulay and his daughters as direct accomplices of the assassination of Litu Ratú. You must eliminate Hialpeca, her daughters and Blue Bird, accusing Saba Tamac and Altulay of having done it first. We decree martial law, we make a general mobilization of troops, we tell the Incas that the Timotocuicas declared war on us, as indeed it will be. Let the Incas take over and based on this we take internal control and solidify ourselves.

---How do we get rid of the Incas??," ---asked Rut Za Berú, with a great doubt covering his face.

--- When we get involved in a war of attrition, after a year or so, they will start looking for pretexts to get out. The Timotocuicas will also be very worn out and will think that what goes around comes around. We will be more than established in the government and we will recover our absolute independence,"--- said Ita Za Berú with a prophetic tone.

--Too good to be true," ---objected Rut Za Berú.

---Another comment like that and I swear I will kill you myself. You never see anything good in anything, but you don't do anything,"--- reproached Ita Za Berú offended.

--Everything goes wrong for you..." ---said Rut Za Berú with a convinced gesture.

---Bah. By the day after tomorrow everything will happen as I have planned. You know what you are going to do.

Without saying goodbye, Ruth turned her back to her brother and he said to her.

----Our father was a very intelligent priest; that's why I don't understand how he was able to have a peasant girl with her feet full of dung to have you,"--- said the other, unable to contain himself, incapable of finishing a conversation in peace.

Ruth, with a shriek, jumped back, leaping like a puma on the other, and they both gave each other a shower of blows for a long time.
