Sam and Jason had encountered an obstacle but that didn't deter them, they knew exactly what they wanted to do and the possibility that they would encounter humans inside that shop couldn't be ruled out.
Jason gulped but Sam was calm and collected as he tried to devise their method of approach on the spot. He didn't want to waste ammunition so he knew he had to use melee weapons.
The fact that the zombies just turned meant that they were in pristine condition.
"Jason, we need to find a way in without triggering the zombies and I'm afraid we cannot use the same strategy as earlier. Do you have anything else in mind?" Sam asked.
Jason was deep in thought, thinking about the possible outcome of this mission.
It could go sideways easily and Jason knew that he couldn't lose Sam.
"I don't know what to do…" Jason said bluntly but his eyes soon caught a glimpse of a huge rock beside him. Jason instinctively knew what to do as he picked up the rock from the ground.
"They follow sound… All we need to do is to distract them," Jason said as he tossed the rock into the window of a nearby building and just as he expected, the zombies began walking in that direction.
This was a simple yet effective way to disperse the Zombies and Sam was impressed by how quick-thinking Jason was even though he would have eventually come to the same conclusion.
They managed to sneak into the building unnoticed by the zombies, the doors were shut but it wasn't sealed as the handle had been broken.
There was, however, something placed in front of the door to attempt to barricade it from outsiders showing that someone was inside but Sam had the physical strength to push the door regardless.
If no one was there, the doors would be unhinged but there was also a backdoor that they could have used if they needed to leave.
Sam placed a finger over his lips to command silence, they needed to sweep the area for any potential threat but the store had snacks and beverages inside.
Packaged dry foods were present with tons of protein bars of varying kinds.
This was paradise but Jason noticed an empty bed at the corner of the store and he immediately raised his hammer prepared for all and any threat.
He had split from Sam to cover more ground and Sam was a lot more experience in this as he noticed muddied footprints on the ground.
He squatted over it and dipped his finger into the mud.
"This is fresh…" Sam said as he removed his pistol from his pocket, he had a limited amount of bullets but this would have to do because he didn't know what kind of psycho could potentially be here or if it was even living at all.
He worried about Jason but he had to trust him, this was why Sam wanted to go with Clementine because he couldn't afford to babysit and had no intention of starting now.
Sam followed the trail, it led away from the main compartment and into the backroom.
Sam walked slowly and slowly opened the door that led to the other room, Sam heard sudden movement and immediately pointed his gun in that direction.
"You are…!" Sam muttered the moment his eyes saw the origin of the noise.

"Clementine, how long have you known Sam?" Rachel asked because she wanted to be sure that they were in safe hands.
"I have known him for a year or so. He is a good man," Clementine reassured the lady before turning her attention to Bella.
"Are you and Jason a thing?" Clementine asked and this was a drastic change to the ongoing conversation but this was the famous girl talk that women often participated in.
"Hahaha! I'm not dating him if that is what you're asking," Bella responded but she wasn't awkward in her response despite noticing that a child was there.
But was Lillian still a child? She was sixteen and she was about to be exposed to some gruesome things that came with this new world.
Rachel didn't try to censor Bella either, she found herself interested in what was going on between Bella and Jason.
"Do you like him?" Rachel asked and Bella was rather surprised by this question because Rachel always struck her as stuck up right from the get-go but it looks like Rachel was gradually beginning to accept that Bella was part of the crew.
"Like him? I just met him but he does fuck good," Bella said and the two other adults look in Lillian's direction because something told them that she shouldn't be exposed to such a conversation.
"You guys know I know what sex is, right?" Lillian blurted out because the looks she got were like she was a child even though she was technically still a minor.
Rachel sighed because she knew she could no longer protect her sister from such things. After all, this world was without law so this should be the least of her concern now.
"How good are we talking?" Clementine asked, returning to the conversation.
Rachel tried to pretend like she wasn't interested but her full attention was on what Bella had to say.
"He was so fucking good! I had no idea being fucked could feel so good!" Bella bragged, she was all giggles and smiles. Clementine looked surprised because Jason didn't give such energy despite his good looks, she could tell that he didn't have much experience with ladies.
"Tone down the language," Rachel said, she had no problem with them talking about sex but they didn't need to be so raw about it.
"It's okay Rachel. I'm not into guys or sex at all, this all sounds gross to me," Lillian said, looking genuinely unimpressed with the story as she was revealed to be asexual.
And the ladies continued with their stories, Rachel feigned not being as interested as Clementine but the truth was, she was the most interested.
