Gus panted for breath, his lungs struggling to recover from the debt that they had accrued during the fight. His eyes panned over the floor, studying the dead bodies of the Nightblades that he had just killed. As his breath recovered, he shifted his gaze upwards to the remaining Nightblade, the Alpha.

"Now you."

The Nightblade glared at him with an expression of pure hatred. Any semblance of respect that he might have had for the human was gone, replaced only with a sense of loathing that he had never felt before in his life.

There had been foes that were difficult to kill in his past. He had sent Nightblades after targets before, and they had returned without the prize of killing their foe. But he had never experienced a loss of one of his Nightblades on an assassination mission, not until they were sent to strike at the temple.
