"That's not necessarily true," one of the policemen retorted. "The murderer kills because he hates women. Maybe he was stimulated recently, so he started killing. We can't rule out the possibility that he has been in the Imperial City the entire time."

Quarto's voice was calm and composed. "You're right," he said. "The murderer kills women because he is a misogynist and was most likely stimulated recently. But if he started recently, he wouldn't have had such a sophisticated M.O. before the four murders. He definitely has a criminal record.
