Chapitre 2: Chapter 2

Light was pouring into the room where the woman lay, illuminating the space with a warm glow that seemed almost ethereal. She began to regain consciousness, her eyelids fluttering as they struggled to open. A groan escaped her lips, the sound heavy with confusion and fatigue as she instinctively placed her palms against the cool surface beneath her, pushing herself up. However, something felt distinctly off; she could feel strands of hair cascading down around her, glimmering like sunlight on water. Tentatively, she sat up on her knees, her fingers reaching out to grasp the golden strands. Suddenly, a sharp "Ouch!" erupted from her as she inadvertently tugged on the hair. "No way..." A rush of realization washed over her as she understood that this was her hair—this wasn't just a few stray locks, but a majestic mane transformed into a striking golden hue. "This didn't happen before in the game," she murmured, her mind racing with disbelief.

At first, her confusion distracted her from noticing the changes in her body. When she finally lowered her eyes to examine her arms, she gasped in shock. "It can't be..." In a burst of adrenaline, she leaped to her feet and hurried out of the room, her heart pounding in her chest, leading her to a larger space where a mirror awaited. As she stood before it, the reflection that met her gaze was nothing short of astonishing. Instead of the large, heavy woman she once was, the mirror revealed a stunning figure with a slender physique. The oily black hair that had long plagued her was gone, replaced by silky golden locks that cascaded down to her waist. She marveled at the transformation, her once dull, monolid brown eyes now sparkling with life, transformed into brilliant, almond-shaped crystal blue eyes. The woman couldn't believe what she was seeing; she looked exactly like her character from the game [Survival]. "Could this be a reward?" she pondered, trying to make sense of the miraculous changes.

Just as she was lost in thought, a blue light began to glow beside her, drawing her attention. Turning towards the radiant illumination, she found two glossy screens hovering in the air, reminiscent of those that appeared in the game. The first screen read:

[Your world is about to be destroyed by things called Dungeons. You need to survive and close the Dungeons to stop the destruction.]

A chill ran down her spine as she recognised the words; they echoed the very introduction of the game she had played. This meant that the second screen would likely outline her first quest. Just as that thought solidified in her mind, the text on the second screen began to materialize before her eager eyes, igniting a mixture of anticipation and trepidation within her.

Scenario 1

Difficulty - E

There are still plenty of survivors, they have begun heading towards the centre of the suburb, which is the location of a high school. You must head to the safe point while avoiding the monsters, if not you'll die!

Time Limit — 2 weeks

She had read the Scenario in front of her and, just as she thought, it was the same; however… "High school?" The woman couldn't help but make a sour expression upon realizing that the high school in question was Horizon Private Academy, the very institution where she had spent four grueling years of her life. This prestigious school, known for its exorbitant tuition, was populated by students hailing from affluent families. Perhaps this was the reason why so many of her classmates were spoiled and incredibly high-maintenance, making her time there even more unbearable. During her years at Horizon, she had been relentlessly bullied for two primary reasons. The first stemmed from her appearance; she wasn't conventionally pretty and carried extra weight that made her an easy target. The second reason was her older sister, who was the complete opposite of her. Her sister was not only stunning but also exceptionally popular and academically gifted. Although she loved her sister dearly and appreciated the way she always looked out for her, the stark contrast between them only served to magnify her feelings of inadequacy. Tragically, at the end of Year 11, both her sister and parents died in a horrific accident. The combination of relentless bullying and this devastating loss pushed her to drop out of school and retreat into herself, becoming a recluse. Now, having just turned 18, she found herself in a position where, thanks to the insurance money, she didn't need to work or leave the house.

However, this wasn't the time to dwell on the past. "If this is like [Survival] then… S-[Status.]" She hesitated, feeling a wave of embarrassment wash over her at the thought of uttering it only for it to fail. But she didn't have to worry; in an instant, a new screen appeared before her, illuminating her surroundings with a soft glow.Status

The screen displayed the basic status, but she had been genuinely surprised by the numbers it revealed. Logically, they should have been a fifth of what they currently were, especially considering the being had stated that all stats would be stripped away. Yet, a flicker of doubt crossed her mind—was it possible that her stats were indeed accurate? After all, if she hadn't received any reward, perhaps the being's claim held some truth. Her gaze shifted to the question marks where her name would typically be displayed.

"Why are there question marks?" she pondered, feeling a mix of confusion and curiosity. One thought crystallized in her mind: "Can I change my name too?" Given her altered appearance, it seemed plausible that she might be granted the opportunity to reinvent herself entirely, as though embarking on an entirely new journey. The only name that came to her was the one she had used in the game world—"Anastasia Rosebery." The moment that name slipped from her lips, an electric sensation coursed through her, igniting a sense of potential and excitement she had never anticipated.

The question marks had been replaced with the name, and in that singular moment, an overwhelming sense of relief washed over her. It was almost as if she no longer needed to cling to the remnants of her old self, the version of her that had been weighed down by insecurities and past failures. No one even cared if she disappeared anyway; the world felt so vast and indifferent. It wasn't like anyone remembered her, so becoming someone new wouldn't affect anyone's lives in any significant way. At that moment, she resolved to embrace the identity of Anastasia Rosebery, a name that felt foreign yet exciting. With this decisive thought, she glanced outside towards the direction the school would be in, a place that had once filled her with anxiety but now hinted at new possibilities. She knew that she needed to prepare for this fresh start, to step into the light of her new identity. This had symbolised her readiness to unveil the new Anastasia to the world, full of hope and promise.
