Chapitre 16: Super Gene Immortal Chapter 16
Lux returned to the Steel Armor Shelter intent on teleporting back to the alliance. Again, he had undergone serious batman level black ops to make sure that he remained undetected as he made the transition from his super hero form and returned to his regular form. And making his way towards his room in the shelter.
Unfortunately, it seemed that fate was conspiring against Lux's intent to return home and create a money farm. No, he got stopped by none other than Fist Guy accompanied by Beifeng. Apparently, Lin Beifeng was his friend somehow.
"Sen! My brother, quick, come here." Lin Beifeng called out seeing Lux walking past.
Lux had to hold back a deep sigh. He had a feeling that something was going on here. Something that would ruin his own plans. But he couldn't just ignore Beifeng and leave. The guy may have an uncanny ability to be annoying, but he was also a genuinely good guy. Lux wasn't about to hurt the friendship he had with the man.
"Beifeng, how have you been?" Lux said and greeted him with a solid handshake.
"Everything had been going wonderfully Sen. Son of Heaven asked me to deliver this to you. He said it was a peace offering and say that he should have believed you." With that Beifeng placed his hand on Lux's chest and he got a beast soul notification from the system.
"It's definitely not the best beast soul out there." Beifeng commented, "But it might be useful to you. He apparently bought it just for you because he broke your arrow."
Lux's jaw dropped at that. Son of Heaven's animosity towards Han Sen was practically legendary, and the guy was not exactly known for being generous either. Lux pulled up the beast new beast soul he had received.

Lux almost couldn't believe it. Son of Heaven had done something nice for him? He really would have never seen that one coming.
*Chough*
"Oh right!" Beifeng, "Sen, meet Fist Guy, Fist Guy, Sen. Fist Guy needs someone who is good with a bow to help on a hunt for a Sacred-Blood beast. I recommended you!"
Fist Guy gave Lux a head nod, "True, he did recommend you. And from what I've heard about you, you do meet the criteria of being what we need."
"What exactly is the creature that you are hunting and how far away is it? I have an appointment that I need to take my sister too since our mother is in the second sanctuary for another couple of months." Lux asked. If it was close by and he wasn't going to miss out on the championship matches he could always use some extra Sacred-Blood points. Or even just a new nifty Beast Soul.
"It's not too far from the shelter. Only a few days by mount. And we have enough mounts for the entire party. The reason we need a skilled archer is because the creature has incredibly good armor. Almost everything just bounces off of it, but its stomach is vulnerable. We need an archer that can get a shot into the gap when its rolling to attack." Fist Guy was upfront.
"Wait what?" Lux asked having his building image of said creature change to some form of armored sonic the hedgehog.
"It is some kind of Pangolin creature. Its back is armored and spiky, it rolls to attack. Almost lost one of my men when we first found it. The only weakness we noticed is that when it curls up there is a gap." Fist Guy made a measurement with his hands around as big as a teacup, "about this big, that is visible with every roll. None of my guys are archers, and every time we trapped it… well it just didn't go well. We want to bait it into rolling and give you plenty of chances to snipe it. It'll be a tough shot, but we don't really have a good idea otherwise."
That weird feeling that Lux noticed before emerged again. He wasn't sure but he felt like something bad was going to happen if he went on this hunt.
"Umm… Is this hunt time sensitive?" Lux asked.
Fist Guy thought about it for a moment then nodded, "Yes, the creature is so close by that any of the others could notice it at any time."
Lin Beifeng was giving Lux the puppydog eyes, practically begging him to go on the hunt. And Lux found that he couldn't make an excuse without drawing attention that he was afraid of missing the date of the Chosen bouts.
"Sure, I'll help out." Lux said with a sigh.
Fist Guy smiled and clapped him on the shoulder, "Good, we can leave at first light. Don't be late."
"That is good! Brother this will be our first hunt together!" Beifeng said joyfully, "At least if you exclude hour adventure back from the mountains."
"You are going too?" Lux asked with surprise.
"Of course, come. Let's go back to the alliance. I'll be returning to my personal Telepad at home, but I will send someone to pick you up let's go get something really good to eat before the trip." Beifeng said with excitement.
"Alright that sounds good… Say did the eggshell from that time get you any points?" Lux asked with curiosity.
Lin Beifeng grinned, "Three points actually, I ground them up into dust and mixed it with my meals and drinking water."
The pair walked together before separating to teleport back to the Alliance. Lux walked outside the teleportation station and it was only a few minutes before a really fancy AV showed up and landed, Lin Beifeng jumping out of it the second it hit the ground and running out to practically haul Lux into it.
"Where are we going?" Lux asked.
"The Pheonix Rising Restaurant. We will have a guest showing up too." Beifeng said with a grin, "Anyway, do you know The Way?"
Lux froze as he very nearly burst out laughing at the question, "I do, follow me to da Queen bruduh!" Lux managed to croak out before he descended into a giggle fit and Beifeng was just confused as hell.
"Ummm… I don't get the joke, but you should see the latest that's come out about it. It's a slow Hyper Geno Art, but as far as the researchers at Saint Hall are concerned, it might be the best one that has ever been discovered. It solved so many issues that were plaguing other Geno Arts, and the explanations of the tutorial show things that Saint Hall thinks will revolutionize further development. Plus, it doesn't even matter that it got leaked, because Shura can't use it." Beifeng waxed on and on about the benefits of The Way.
Lux obviously knew everything about The Way, he had made it after all. A shura with human blood could easily practice the art. Pure Shura or any other race wouldn't get anything out of trying to practice it. It would literally just do nothing for them. It relied on the unstable nature of human DNA after all. No other race in any of the Sanctuaries could even use it. All of the Sutra's that Lux was developing with [Machine Learning] were like that. Every art that he was producing was designed either for himself, or for humans as a whole.
"The craziest thing about it all is that they can't narrow down where whoever published it did it from. Whoever did it pulled some crazy super hacker stuff to distribute it around the Skynet and make the files basically impossible to get off the net. The Alliance wants to find whoever it is to help with programming and hacking stuff apparently." Lin Beifeng had discovered a new idol in this mysterious hacker from the look in his eyes as he spoke.
"Lets see how long it will be until whoever did it releases another one." Lux said with a smirk.
"Another one? The Way is already amazing, how would they make more?" Beifeng scoffed.
"The Way, from its introduction, says that its mainly a preparatory Sutra. It's meant to establish and continually build a foundation for more Hyper Geno Arts. Whoever it is will probably release another one that is faster to practice and more directed at certain kinds of performance once everyone knows The Way." Lux reasoned.
Beifeng nodded pulling up The Way Sutra on his commlink and reading over the introduction, "You are right!"
After that the two of them continued to talk about other things. The conversation somehow winding to how much the prices of Wood had risen because of a wood farm planet basically catching fire and interrupting the harvesting cycle this year. Oddly enough, wood was more valuable than gold nowadays for humanity. It was like that for a large number of supposedly rare materials that humanity used to measure their wealth by. Stuff like wood, silks, and animals were far mor valuable than minerals and resources by and large. Mainly because most materials were so easy to acquire from asteroids and uninhabitable planets with massive robotic mining setups. Only things that were produced by life were really all that valuable. The exception was with a few minerals and elements that still rare to come by even on a galactic scale. Lin Beifeng's family owned several mines of some very special minerals that were exceedingly rare and necessary for the production of high percentage Z-steel alloys.
They arrived at the ritziest restaurant that Lux ever remembered going to. The tiles on the floor had literal gold as grout, inlays in fancy archaic designs of phoenixes in various stages of life. Lin Beifeng led the way to a private room that was somehow even more ostentatious than the entrance area and main dining hall.
"So, who is joining us?" Lux asked.
"Ah… He is on his way to the planet, should be here in about half an hour." Beifeng looked a little nervous, "It's Son of Heaven. He wanted me to arrange a meeting with you that was not inside the sanctuary. I don't know why."
Lux didn't know if this was a good thing or a bad thing. Son of Heaven seemed to be rather different than the impressions he had gotten of the guy before. Han Sen's animosity with Son of Heaven was actually something that extended beyond simply getting bullied in the sanctuary. Han Sen had always believed that the Starry Group had assassinated his father to get ahold of his father's company. Lux was aware that Han Sen's father had faked his own death. He wasn't sure why Son of Heaven would be his enemy in any other capacity now that all the heat was on the armored figure of Lux. He also didn't understand what Son of Heaven would to talk to him about outside of the sanctuary for.
"Well let's order some drinks while we wait." Lux said, "You were telling me about how your family found out about their first mine?"
"Ah yes, it was my great uncle." Beifeng proceeded to tell an oddly hilarious recounting of events that led to the Lin family figuring out that the barely worthwhile waste management planet that they owned was actually a mine of extraordinary value. The planet just so happened to have the largest deposit of a mineral used in alloying z-steel that had ever been discovered. So, their family had gone from owning a planet meant to be dumping ground for hazardous waste, to owning one of the most valuable planets in the Alliance. Making it their biggest moneymaker.
All too soon the pair were interrupted by Son of Heaven entering the private room.
"I hope that I am not interrupting Lin." Son of Heaven said nodding to Lux and adding, "Han."
"Of course not. You know that we were expecting you." Beifeng said with a smile, "Join us."
Son of Heaven sat at the table across from Lux and Beifeng, "I asked Beifeng to set up this meeting so that we could speak here in the Alliance because I have a few things that might interest you Han Sen. When I discovered that Lux had framed you, I realized that I may have acted a little… Anyway, back when the whole Ass Freak thing started I had you investigated. I did not think much about what my people found back then. My family's company had recently acquired your father's company after the man passed away and his relatives sold it off to us. The thing is. My people investigating found something that was brought to my attention, I thought to maybe use the information, but the trail ran cold."
Son of Heaven pulled a file out of his jacket and pushed it across the table to Lux, "Consider this an apology for the months of harassment."
Lux frowned and looked down at the folder, opening it to see a slightly blurry photo Han Sen's father with a time stamp that was months after his fathers supposed death. Along with a few notes from the investigators trying to confirm the man's identity.
Lux nodded upon reading through the information, "I suspected as much. No body recovered. Though I will be honest, I thought that the Starry Group arranged for him to disappear."
Son of Heaven raised an eyebrow at that, "Why would you think that?"
"Because you all were after our businesses trade secrets?"
Son of Heaven looked confused, "Your father sold us the recipes for alloys something like six months before his supposed death. We had no reason to even really try. Starry group only purchased the company after his death because your family approached us with an offer that was just pure profit for us."
Lux was unsure of what all that meant, he also didn't really care. But he at least made the effort to seem like he did. He asked a few questions. But it had been such a trivial thing that Son of Heaven hadn't really been involved in any of it, all he knew was just from when he had investigated Han Sen after he stabbed Qin Xuan in her lion form.
"Well I appreciate the information…" Lux paused, "Sorry, but I don't think I've ever heard your real name."
Son of Heaven laughed at that, "Son of Heaven is a nickname that just stuck. I'm not sure when it started either. But my real name is Ning Taiyang."
Lux smiled, "Well that's one mystery solved at least." He pointed at the folder, "And another to be delved into. Thank you for bringing this to my attention Ning Taiyang. I just need to ask though. What is with the sudden change?"
"Honestly, this may sound stupid." Ning Taiyang said, "It was because of whoever released The Way. After learning it myself, and seeing what Saint Hall has to say about it. I wondered why someone would give away something so valuable. The Way is something that whole dynasty could have been built off of. But whoever made it decided to give it away. It made me think of a few things. Realize a few things."
"Well, thank you for this." Lux gestured to the folder, "Now that I have this, I should probably head home. I'm going hunting tomorrow, need to be up bright and early."
With that Lux bade both men goodbye and headed home.
