Chapter 22: Meeting the Original Suraj

Suraj felt a twinge of guilt as he sat in the quiet of his room, thinking about Aryan. The little guy had been so excited to see Bloody Commando on its opening day, and Suraj had promised to take him. But with all the chaos surrounding the movie's release, he hadn't kept his word. It stung, knowing he'd let Aryan down, even though his little brother had been nothing but understanding.

Suraj realized that Aryan meant more to him than he'd expected. While he knew he'd been reincarnated into this world, slipping into the life of the "original" Suraj, Aryan somehow felt like family. The more time they spent together, the more he found himself caring for him with a genuine, brotherly love. Aryan was so easy to love: gentle, kind-hearted, and wise beyond his years. Suraj didn't just feel like a guardian to Aryan; he felt like a brother, as if he'd always been there for him.

Deciding to make it up to him, Suraj promised himself that they'd have an even better outing soon. Perhaps he'd even bring Aryan to a theater where the audience would recognize them, giving his little brother a taste of the newfound success that had brought Mythic Productions back to life. Aryan deserved that, and so much more.

As he finally drifted off to sleep, exhaustion caught up with him, and he fell into a deep slumber. But that night, his dreams were different.

He found himself in a place that felt oddly familiar: an old, dimly lit theater, with dusty seats and an air of nostalgia. He'd been here countless times in his dreams, yet tonight, something was different. There, standing near the screen, was a young man—a boy, really, with a face that mirrored his own. It was almost like looking into a reflection from the past.

Suraj felt his heart race. He didn't need anyone to tell him who this was. Somehow, he knew instinctively. This was the original Suraj, the soul whose body he'd now inhabited. The boy looked at him with a gaze that held no resentment, no bitterness, only a deep, quiet gratitude.

Suraj took a hesitant step forward, feeling a mix of wonder and guilt. Before he could speak, the original Suraj broke the silence, his voice soft and filled with warmth.

"Don't worry," he said, as if reading Suraj's mind. "I'm not here to take my body back. My soul's journey has ended. What you're seeing is just a tiny fragment left behind, like a shadow. I came to thank you."

Suraj felt a wave of relief, but also a strange sadness. "Thank me?"

The original Suraj nodded. "Yes. Thank you for taking care of Aryan and my family's legacy. I couldn't be there for him, but you are. That means everything to me."

Suraj swallowed, a lump forming in his throat. "No need to thank me," he said quietly. "It's like fate gave me a second chance. I'll make sure that Aryan's taken care of, that he grows up happy and safe. And I'll honor your family's legacy with everything I have."

A small smile appeared on the original Suraj's face, his eyes shimmering with gratitude. "I knew you would. I've seen how you've embraced this life and cared for Aryan. You're doing everything I would have wanted."

They stood there in silence, the weight of unspoken words filling the air. After a moment, the original Suraj took a step back, his figure beginning to fade.

"Thank you," he said again, his voice growing faint. "I can rest now, knowing Aryan is in good hands. Goodbye."

Before Suraj could respond, the boy disappeared, his form dissolving like mist. Suraj found himself alone in the theater, feeling a profound sense of peace, as though something sacred had just occurred.

He woke up with the first rays of sunlight streaming through his window, the remnants of the dream still fresh in his mind. Sitting up, he looked at Aryan, who was still asleep, curled up with a faint smile on his face.

Suraj quietly made a promise to himself and to the original Suraj. He would continue to protect Aryan, guide him, and be the best brother he could be. This life, this family, was now his. And he would treasure it with all his heart.
