Synopsis
Synopsis:
The story follows Tellius Warfield's and Sarah Lawson's renegade crew aboard the dropship Wings of Eos as they try to survive and make a living in a dystopian universe ruled by corporations from the shadows.
Twelve years ago, Warfield and Lawson had become war heroes through their heroic sacrifice on Thermopoly-6. Sadly, the war they had fought was lost, and the Universal Central Government (UCG) has since then become a hollowed-out husk. The soldiers' corpses were sold off to pay for the corporations' reparations.
Now, twelve years later, Sarah, now a legendary mercenary known as the Widow, was able to retrieve Tellius's brain and revive him in the cyborg body and the Lazarus-System.
Reunited, they encounter other fellow mercenaries, power-hungry corporate executives, disillusioned veterans, agents of the morally corrupted UCG, and various other friends and foes as they travel the universe in search of their next paycheck.

Hi there, just another author writing a review for his own story... But seriously this story is hugely inspired by dark & gritty sci-fi like Bladerunner, Ghost in Shell, Cyberpunk 2077, Altered Carbon and will eventually (if I make it to chapter 550-580) pivit into even darker stuff inspired by Warhammer 40k, Three Body Problem and Battlestar Galactica.

Overall, it wants to be good and I applaud this for trying something different. It feels like someone watched the original Blade Runner and then added some Ghost in the Shell to it. The Good: I like a dark, gritty, science fiction setting such as this. This is not a child's novel, but it is still a familar power-building scifi novel. We have some excellent character descriptions in most cases and the world itself appears interesting. The Bad: The writing quality and word choices in some of the earlier chapters is awful. A simple grammar check would've gotten most of them. (For example: Using bombarded as a noun when it should've been bombardment in multiple cases.) It's trying to be dark and gritty at times and pulls this off well, but sometimes it is taken too far and just gets weird for me. This is purely subjective so I can't really bash it for that. The 18+ scene was... alright. It needs something more or maybe more build-up. Maybe I'm just getting old so it could work for others. The Neutral: Not much to say. The author appears to have experience setting up a good story, but the grammar just needs a bit of help. The story seemed to escalate very quickly up to chapter 9 so I am not sure if this will be a long story or not. Keep it up, though! I'm enjoying it!
