They say when you die your life flashes before your eyes.
The memories that brought you joy would play as a movie and yet what I saw wasn't the times I was truly happy. No, What played was every mistake I ever made starting when I was only sixteen years old. That was when my life had started to turn into something awful and truly pathetic.
Before that i couldn't say I had a bad life
My family was rich enough to throw away gold as if it was bronze. Despite my estranged relationship with most of my blood relatives I was happy, I spent most of my time blowing money on whatever I wanted and the rest severing Florence hand in foot hoping that she would recuperate my feelings for her.
'Why can I still think?' I wondered if this was how the afterlife was as my mind raced.
'…No' It wasn't until a few seconds did I realize something was wrong.
What made me confused was the soft feeling of covers lying across my body and the crisp air that filled my lungs. I tried to keep my calm thinking about how I could have survived my neck being split open as I listened to my surroundings, Unfortunately my investigation bared no fruit besides silence from every direction.
'I'm not dead' It was an easy conclusion to make and I slowly stared to channel mana into my body.
'What?' I grew even more confused realizing how slow it was moving and how undeveloped my mana veins were.
I held back my curiosity as I felt my body fill with an unnatural strength, My finger spread apart in case I needed to create a blade before I cautiously opened my eyes. What greeted me was the a blinding light that made me squint and quickly blink as i tried to see my surroundings.
'….' It took a few seconds but soon my mind fell completely silent seeing a familiar yet unfamiliar room.
'What?' I asked myself once more as my eyes looked side to side wondering if I was hallucinating or dreaming.
The room was truly grand with tall walls painted a deep shade of red that were covered in artwork. To the left was a brick fireplace surrounded by multiple leather couches and to the right was a large bookshelf filled with countless books. Just overhead was a majestic chandelier that shimmered covered in expensive jewels, While underneath me was a large bed that could fit at least a dozen people at once.
The familiar room was the same one I had grown up in
'That's impossible' I shook my head as I slowly set up glancing from side to side as my heart raced.
It was impossible because the valentine estate had been destroyed and burned to the ground. I was there that day so I knew that the sight in front of me was truly impossible, Yet I couldn't deny what my own eyes were showing me.
"My hand" It was then that I noticed my hand from the side of my eye.
I raised it in the air in front of my face but instead of the scared and calloused skin I had grown used to over the years I saw smooth delicate flesh. My heart skipped a beat as I raised my other arm and examined it before I quickly grabbed the covers and tore them off of my body, My speed was fast enough to almost make me trip as I ran to the side of the room where a large full length mirror stood.
"…." What I saw wasn't a young man in his mid twenties but a boy in his early teens.
My black hair I had keep short was now long enough to fall into my face just above a pair of dark purple eyes. The muscular body and the scars I had earned from the endlessly fighting during the rebellion had disappeared replaced by an athletic figure, And most of all was the young and extremely handsome face that almost seemed full of arrogance.
"…." I didn't speak as my gaze landed on the ground.
My shoulders slowly started to shake more and more until a loud laugh broke out.
"Hahahaha!" I had never felt such joy and amusement before in my life.
