Kazuto screamed in pain as the gel burned his skin. The guards winced and turned their backs. After about fifteen minutes, Kazuto passed out from the pain. The King walked in once again.

Once the King and his guards had left, the Ghost removed the Vaseline from Kazuto's face.

As Haede left, the Ghost, Kazuto and Zane all spoke. Zane explained that he had his suspicions about his father when he'd overheard him talking to his advisors about the New Ottawans. Zane explained that kidnapping Kazuto's wife was all a massive ploy to get the demons to attack New Ottawa, however, when the demons didn't attack, it left a rather big hole in the King's plans.
Kazuto explained that he had found Nolan adrift on some driftwood the day his wife was kidnapped. Nolan told him that there were others like him, others who would help his wife if they found her.
