I almost rolled my eyes as I waited for the stubborn martyr to come to me. By the side, Grigori and our captive were whispering things to each other. Nothing really harmful, in my opinion. The old man was probably just entertaining the girl with basic information about us.
I blinked as Mathilde finally stood in front of me. Her face held nothing but a hint of responsibility in her eyes, and I was sure she was unapologetic for whatever wounds she might be trying to hide right now. The gigantic burn on her back might've gotten worse, or maybe she sustained more burn wounds from tanking lightning attacks.
"F-for what it's worth.... I'm sorry."
I raised an eyebrow as I heard our prisoner tearfully apologize. I could only guess as to what it meant, but a part of me instantly knew what to expect. "Mathilde, turn around."
