Chapitre 3: Chapter 003 Mortak

Mortak awoke in her Den with Stakla, Laying up against her side. Mortak smiled and looked into the stars. She always loved looking up to the stars to help calm her. She had done this even when she was young. The sky was dark and beautiful as always. She looked into the forest below her. She was on a cliff den she had found about 7 moons ago. That's when she gave birth to Stakla. The den she is in now is Stakla's birth den and she enjoys the den. So does Mortak. It is spacious, has two entrances, one that leads to the Forest and one that leads to water. Mortak could not love it more. And although she was a black bear, she did not like tree's like the other black bears did. She liked the comfort of a den. She was raised in one and so is her daughter too. As Mortak was about to drift off into sleep, Stakla awoke, crying.

" What is wrong dear?" Mortak said, comfortingly.

" I had a bad dream where a bad bear was after you and hurt you and took me away!" Stakla continued crying. This was a new dream, from what Stakla had told Mortak every night she had a bad dream. She had some scary dreams and sometimes just straight-up confusing dreams, but Mortak had never heard one like this before.

" What did the bear look like sweetheart?" Mortak asked, wondering if she could explain it, although she was 7 moons old.

" It was a very large brown bear with its fur missing in different places and had bones showing from its open chest cavity, showing its organs and other things," She paused for a moment. " But the worst part of the bear was the jaw. The bottom part of the jaw was split in two and had rows of razor-sharp teeth. And one of the bear's eyes were missing from the socket, which just left emptiness." Stakla stopped and looked at Mortak. Morak was frozen in how descriptive she was. It made her shudder at the fact that she explained the demonic bear in such detail, that even she saw it in her head. Those words had seared a monster into her head that Mortak would protect her daughter from, even if it was a dream.

" Well, honey it was just a dream so there is nothing to worry about," Mortak said. How could a child imagine the monstrosity she had dreamt of. " We should go to sleep now dear." She could not fall asleep though. She had to watch over her daughter no matter what. Stakla did not refuse to fall asleep and in a few minutes, she was asleep. Mortak was comforted that Stakla had a smile on her face before hearing loud thuds in the earth. Mortak looked outside the den and saw the bear her daughter has described. Mortak had felt fear before but not as much as even glancing at the beast. But she was completely starring at it.
