Chapitre 80: Last Day of Our Holiday

Sitting at Natalie's desk, we were preparing a plan for each round of the duel. Although, most of them were our duel against Kira. The other candidates were not my friends nor my enemy.
I laid down a piece of blueprints and a plan for the duel tomorrow. Because we could bring every weapon that we had, we would win easily, and because of the healing spell, nobody is going to die, maybe.
"So the duel is divided into three rounds, isn't it? So what we should bring on each round?" Garth asked me.
"Let me see, sword and dagger will do for not so strong opponents. We will bring rifles and MG if the opponents are a pain in the ass. A strong opponent needs a more potent weapon, so a portable heavy machinegun should be enough in a couple with an exoskeleton suit. If the opponents are going to threaten our lives, then we will use the powered suit with a Gatling laser in couple with airstrike from Sobri's squadron," I explained.
"Hmm... sounds a bit impossible right that we will need a super heavy combat loadout just to win the duel. We know that you have the firepower to fight the sonile kingdom or Tanerian, so why don't you do so?" Cecile asked me
"Hmm... I also wonder why, I don't know why, but let your minds do its job," I said as I drew a sketch of the arena.
Garth looked at the window, he seemed to be pretty surprised when he looked at it.
I peek beside him, "Garth, what are you looking for... What???" I got surprised.
"We shouldn't bombard the Tanerian, I fucking knew it. Now, look! Sonile brought a battle mech here in case of a war breaking out," Garth said as she pointed his finger to the mech.
Mechs with the height about three-story building and a sword or staff in their back. The one that we encounter in Tanerian and Demon's s territory was far more inferior than this thing. The body looks more agile and more armored too.
In the background, Maria held the smartphone on her left hand, "Should I call Sobri?" She asked me.
"We better be, "Cecile said as she opened the door and went outside to see the mechs.
Maria pressed the speed dial and called Sobri to bring his jet.
Maria: "Good morning, Lieutenant Colonel."
Sobri: "It's just Colonel now."
Maria: "Congratulations on the promotion. Could you do me a favor?"
Sobri: "Sure thing General, what is it?"
Maria: "Could you check the capabilities that the Soniel's battle mech has?"
Sobri: "Sure thing General. I will be there in twenty."
Maria: "Much appreciated."
Maria turned off the phone and put it in her pocket. She smiled because of the satisfaction.
"Sobri will come here," She said to me.
"Ok, let's see the battle mech that our senior piloted," I said as I left the room.
Once I got out of the council building, I saw that battle mechs. They were as agile as a human being and bigger too. They were testing out the mechs by having a duel in the arena.
The other students were surrounding the arena, but we got a better idea. We headed to the roof of the classroom.
We brought the binocular from our room, but Garth brought a railgun instead. He said that his binocular was hard to be found. Though the scope on the railgun was far better than the one in our binocular.
The battle mech duel was astounding to be seen, but the peace situation was broken out by the flight of Sobri's squadron, F-15E Strike Eagle. Weirdly enough, his squadron only consisted of two planes.
The formation of the F-15s was flying on top of the Costellia town region. The speed was Mach 10 if I was right. The city was already trying to throw spells at them, but their speed of three kilometers per second makes it impossible.
The magic barrier in the arena was taken off, and one of the mechs started to take off from the ground. The others were shooting spells from the staff on their hands.
I grabbed my HT searched for their frequency. I acted as their CP, and Garth started to aim the railgun at the sky.
"Sobri, what is your call sign?" I asked her as I saw through the sky.
"Lehm 1," he said to me.
"Ok, how about the others?" I asked him again while Garth predicted the movement of the flying battle mech.
"Lehm 2 is the one with the red wings," he said to me.
"Who is the pilot?" I asked him as the flying battle mech went faster.
"LTC Balandin, Alina Balandin, sir," she said to me.
"Ok, we will guide you," I continued to use my binocular to see the dogfight between the flying mech and the F-15 strike eagle.
The mech was at a significant disadvantage, you can't depend on a teenager to beat something and even worse was, that something was a gen 6th fighter jet.
"Lehm 1, Fox 1," a missile launched from the F-15 to the mech.
The mech didn't have any warning for the missile, but the mech surely has a defense barrier. So the missile becomes ineffective.
"Lehm 1, target unscathed," Garth said to him.
The mech was still flying, but that's not a big deal. The big deal was the risk of the mech followed the jets back to the Flameguard AFB. He must shoot it down.
"Ok, Lehm 2 will take care of him," Sobri said while maneuvering his aircraft.
"Lehm 2, firing TLS," the red-winged jet fired a blue beam laser with the power 10 times the F-69 Vtol laser, which was 15.000.000 watts.
The mech exploded upon fired by something that produces a very high energy beam. The mech melted and exploded on the ground, which wasn't that far from Costellia.
"Lehm 2, bandit splashed," I said as her jet flew at a very low altitude from the academy.
"Such a good show," Maria said as the jet flew passed us, and the students were running in chaos.
No wonder why the students were running in chaos, that battle mech was one of the proudness that Sonile had. It was like some alien shot down an F-22 in the homeland of the USA. It will damage morals so much.
"General, I think I must RTB now, there are 5 unidentified flying objects flying towards us," Lehm 1 said to me.
"From which direction?" I asked him.
"West, they are coming from the capital," Sobri jet left the A.O.
"Garth will take care of it," I said as I waved my hands towards the jets.
Garth started to aim his railgun to the sky. The scope of the railgun was very high tec, so there wasn't any chance that the shot will miss from any distance. The longest kill with the railgun was 100 kilometers by Harris Jefferson in 2038. He shot the railgun from top of a mountain to a jet in the middle of a city. That's how advanced the scope of the railgun is. Hitting a flying building is just a walk in the park for the railgun.
"How many targets?" I asked him.
"Five targets; 3 dragon and 2 flying mechs. Distance 30 km, angle 65°, elevation 5 kilos," He said to me.
He deployed the bipod and aimed at the seemingly empty sky. The battle between the mechs on our senior continued while the guard's patrol became tighter.
"Take the shot if you're ready," Maria said to him.
"Ok, mentor," he said to Maria.
Garth pulled the trigger, and a loud thunder noise could be heard from the duel arena.
"I wish I brought my ear protector," Cecile said as she covered her ears.
"Garth, fire at them quickly. We don't need to cause more ruckus than this," I said as I pointed my hands at the arena's magical barrier that went down again.
"Ok, cover your ears. Firing!!" He said as he fired the railgun four times and releasing a loud bang equal to a barrage of lightning striking the ground.
Garth put the railgun at his back and ran from the rooftop, followed by us from behind. We didn't want to be the one that was found first by the guards that have run to the building. We split apart from each other and searching with each own way out.
Maria and I were using the staircase on the left side while bringing Garth's railgun on my hands while He and Cecile were using the stairs on the right side. Our luck would be challenged on this escape since getting spotted by the guards wasn't an option.
While running, Maria and I was discussing the capabilities of the battle mech. The battle mechs was a topic worthy of a discussion, in our opinion. They were fast and agile war machine while still as armored like a tank.
"Maria, what do you think about that mech?" I asked her as I slid down the railing of the stairs while keeping the railgun on my back.
"Hmm... The mechs? They are like a flying tank if all mech is like that, or the AA missile simply isn't powerful enough to penetrate the armor. They're designed to penetrate an armorless aircraft after all," she said while running downstairs.
"I think the factor that Sobri shot it with an AA missile is the biggest factor that the missile can't damage the armor of the mech. We need to treat the mech as another dragon from here and out, the warhead must be changed into a more suitable one," I said as I hide against the wall while looking at the walking guards.
Maria ran to the guard and choked him with her tactical baton and hid his bodies in a corner, "Yeah, We need a penetrating warhead for that thing and not a blast fragmentation warhead," she said as she ran to the nearby stair.
"What do you think is their weakest point?" I asked her as I jumped from a window and landed on the head of a guard, thus putting him down to the state of unconsciousness.
"I don't know yet. We haven't fired it with an ATGM, right? Let's just asked the recon team for that," Maria said as we walked to the fountain where the others were waiting.
