Chapitre 11: Chapter 11 King Der

King Der,

King Der twisted his face in anger, frustration, and hunger. His own half-blood halfkin.

A trickle of self decrypted laughter escaped from between his thin pale lips. A contrast to his entire once beautiful form.

had been trapped in the stomach of this monster for many tides, he had tried counting but he became weak after reaching two hundred tides. (four hundred years)

His tail shrivelled and became mere scales and bones. his upper body saggy, lustrous hair strings and patches, his voice became hoarse and croaky.

He suffered without food or water.

He was on the verge of giving up.

He had lost his kingdom, his merfrau, and merkin. He lost everything, all because of his halfkin.

Should King Der be called a king at this point still?

Looking down at his claws he peeled his lips back to bare his fangs. The claws were also dull, losing their once healthy sheen. Why did he, a once-proud king, become like this..?

For one, king Der had never wanted the title king before his name. To him, King Der had always thought that his halfkin He, is the more worthy. King Der thought that even though he may be the legitimate Merking, he had no desire to sit on the throne. King Der's thin lips became even thinner with the thoughts of what that Merfrau had done. That Merfrau had forced him and indirectly his brother.

He should have stayed strong and continued to deny her constant requests.

It would have been better if his Merfrau had died though, but it is a pity that she had poisoned their unborn merkin eggs and colluded with his halfkin to poison him and feed him to this monster.

He could not understand even to this day how she felt poisoning her own offspring. He had hurt so bad even though he had yet to fertilise them. Hurt to the point that he had become distracted.

Normally a Merfolk would marry whoever they fancy and could turn down a fated but now when he had appeared, King Der could not help but to call out to her.

She, a female who is nothing like his species.

Fragile in looks and lacking the flawless beauty of his Merkind. Still, he thought, perhaps he can protect her..? Moving slowly closer wishing to touch her, King Der was greeted by laughter.

Followed by a boom.

His vision turned white, blinding him. He felt something cold wash over his dry scaled form. Immediately king Der became aware that this is from an unknown power.

The burst of power suddenly healed him. The agonising pain from it caused his vision to blur but he could not deny that what he saw was a disbelieving sight.

The feeling passing over his healed skin and scales was filled with the need to prostrate before it. A king like him should be ashamed but King Der felt that this felt the feeling of gratitude, if she had not arrived, how long would he be forced to dwell in the belly of that monster eventually becoming its meal.

The beast swam closer, king Der looked at it closer, fully aware now of what his fated was becoming even more fascinated by her sight. His eyes widened in fascination staring at the massive beast that had bitten a hole into the monster.

Were they not only stories told before to the young Merkin?

His fated is a monster told only in legends! A monster who is able to usher in a new beginning for all Merfolks. Flicking his tail, Der King torpedoed out of reach, floating a distance to spectate on the two giants' fight.

If his fated won, then he will seek to serve her for her life-saving grace. If she lost, he could only perish with her. Another compensation for rescuing from a fate worse than death.

"You still survived." A familiar voice sounded from behind him in a disappointed tone.

King Der, inwardly felt the desire to draw blood from deep within but stayed calm. King Der turned with a Flick of his tail, to view his halfkin brother. He had recovered to the previous form before and towered over the younger halfkin brother, looking down on him with unconcealed disdain. While the brother had a scatter of blue-black scales, the elder had a colourful scatter of pale blues. From light to almost blue-black. Both possessed the flawless beauty of Merfolk. Der King looked across at the brother who wore the crown dubbing him as the Merking. His swirling dark blue eyes were the exact replica of his own. The only difference was the scatter of scales just below his eyes. Der King said nothing to this halfkin brother but turned to swim away.

"This King is the eldest among the princes born from the deceased. consort Queen. Of course, this King will survive."

King Der saw his younger half in, He, raise a perfectly carved lip exposing a mouth filled with perfectly aligned ivory triangular teeth. Before speaking. "Elder kinma-" King Der did not allow him to finish, a betrayer had no right to speak out and not to him who is king! "No you are wrong, we are enemies, not Kinma! Two hundred world tides. Do you think I will just let it go?"  King Der finished barring all perfectly aligned fangs. He had thought of many ways all that time to have his vengeance and finally he had found it. His body at that time may be an inconvenience but he had been practising while trying to survive. He would have never become this powerful without the ruthlessness of his kinma so he has to thank him in some way. "You have lived long enough anyway, and as for those who helped you betray me, they will have their time." a swish of his tail and the present Merking was engulfed in a bubble in a few moves his form began to shrink becoming smaller and smaller until nothing was left. The bubble floated to the remaining Mernan nearby and was sucked into the body. Like so the trapped prince who had almost become King that time grew to over five meters in length rippling with power.

A smile graced his lips exposing sharp teeth. In his ears were the screams of the Merfolk, as King, Der should feel something for them but that is his Merfrau, why would he care about useless things who did not even attempt to defend him when he had been betrayed?

Dying this way at least would benefit him in some way.
