“No," Adam stepped back and slammed his feet on the bed, "this is not love.”
Hubert's heart beat harder. More painfully. He felt rejected.
“Then what?" he asked.
“A mistake.”
A mistake? What mistake?
“Look, Adam, I'm not an inexperienced teenager. I've lived through mine, too. Maybe my experiences weren't tragic, but I had a lot of them. I can recognize my feelings. I know what love is, what infatuation is and what a mistake is.”
Adam was shaking his head. He did not want to accept Hubert's confession. He firmly rejected them.
Why? Hubert didn't understand. He just looked a little bewildered at how much Adam rejected from himself the possibility that Raymund was telling the truth…
“This is not love” Adam explained quietly. “He also said he loved me....”
Tears appeared in Adam's eyes. Suddenly Hubert understood and rage overwhelmed him.
