Chapter 12
"So what's your so-called master plan?" Stella asked Ruth, with a look of curiosity on her face. "I'm really getting impatient with it, and I hope it wasn't that weird homo-looking guy that totally ignored us."
Ruth was quiet for a while, as she was deeply sunken in thoughts, and that had Stella uncomfortable.
"Speak up, Ruth," Stella urged impatiently. "You're making me freak out with the way you are just staring blankly outside the window."
"I'm thinking of it, just let me think for a moment, would you?" Ruth said as she turned from the window and began pacing around the room impatiently. "There are numerous ways to take her down, but I'm still thinking of the safest and most flawless way of getting it done, without raising any suspicion."
"That's true," Stella said, calming down a bit. "But then, I think I—"
"Alright, here's the plan," Ruth interrupted, with an evil smile across her face. "We are going to get through to her, using her maid."
Stella was a bit confused, as she looked at Ruth with furrowed brows. Her hopes of hearing the most brilliant plan ever, seemed like they were about to be dashed into irreparable pieces.
"How's that going to be the—"
"Let's get to her maid first," Ruth interrupted yet again, with her usual confidence. "We can…" she whispered the rest of the plan into her ears, as she feared that the walls of the palace could have listening ears.
She believed that it could have been those same ears that had ruined their previous plan to drop the chandelier on Maya.
A concurrent smile came on Stella's face, as she heard the specifics of the plan. "You are quite savvy. More savvy than I thought."
"Watch all of it happen, right before your eyes," Ruth said, with an undeniable excitement. "Let's go get our bait."

Queen Maya, was at a loss of what exactly she was supposed to feel about the realization that she was pregnant. It seemed like Charles was miserable because of her, and they made her feel even more terrible.
She had returned to her room to freshen up a bit before heading back to Charles' room. The way everything was going left her disarrayed, as the period of distress came right after the period of celebration.
Her mind went back to the party, and reasoned if the prophecy had been the culprit behind Charles' foul mood throughout the entire evening. It was the most likely reason, but then she couldn't get the reason for his present physical condition.
She sighed as she stood in front of the mirror, staring at herself. Deep thoughts was the name of the ocean that she was drowning at that point.
Each morning, she would gladly stare at herself in the mirror, admiring all her beautiful features. But that time around, she wasn't feeling any of it, as she was worried.
'You should hurry,' Ava, her wolf, whispered softly to her. 'Charles needs you, and the other queens could possibly try to go and replace you in his chamber.'
Maya sighed, 'Alright,' she replied. She slowly unzipped her dress, and let it fall to the floor. She took one last look at her flawless hourglass figure, which she always had Charles slaving for.
It made her a bit uncomfortable that it was only a matter of months before her flawless figure would be ruined by the huge baby bump. She sighed, as she took one last look before making for the shower.
After a while of trying to wash her worries away under the warm showers, she got a bit anxious that something could have gone wrong with Charles. She, hurriedly, put a towel around her body and made her way out.
"Freda?" Maya was beyond startled to see her maid in her room, and setting things in order. "I wasn't expecting you."
"Sorry, I had you scared for a moment," Freda replied, with a slight timid smile on her face. "How are you doing, my queen?"
"I'm alright," Maya replied dryly, indicating that she clearly wasn't. She and her maid had a close relationship which made them seem more like friends than a queen and her maid.
Freda noticed the unusually cold attitude that she received from her lady and was deeply bothered about it. "But you don't seem alright, my lady," she said. "What's the matter?" she asked, as she stepped closer to her, trying to decipher what the problem could be.
"I said I'm fine," Maya sighed, as she wasn't in the mood for conversation. She quietly waited for Freda to leave the room so she could change into something nice and head back to Charles' chamber.
"Are you sure about that, my queen?" Freda hardly ever took no for an answer, and was insistent. She reduced her voice to a whisper, as she asked, "Is it about the alpha?"
"That's none of your business," Maya snarled at her suddenly. "I said I'm fine, now get out so I can change!"
Freda was frozen for a moment, as she tried to process if she was still the same queen Maya that she knew and was fond of, or one of the other arrogant queens.
"Have you suddenly grown deaf?" Maya asked, still with the same angry tone. "Get out of here now, before I ask even less nicely."
With a surprised kind of fright, Freda slowly made for the door, and looked back at Maya one more time, just to make sure that she hadn't been bluffing when she had asked her to get out. But then, the infuriated look on her face hadn't changed a bit.
She stepped out and shut the door behind her and breathed a sigh, wondering what had suddenly come over Maya. Had she always been that kind of person, or was she just in a bad mood?
Freda was embarrassed beyond her wildest imagination. She felt a bit angry, and a bit confused, but she was more angry. Maya had shown that she was still like those arrogant queens who felt like they could trample over anyone because they were royalty.
She began making her way back to her quarters, until she was stopped by two of the alpha's mistresses, who withstood her in the corridor.
"Hello, Freda," they both said in unison.
What were they up to?
