Chapter 46
It was yet another terrible day to be a maid, serving all alone, Sheila thought to herself, as she went about her morning duty. At that point, there was nothing else to motivate her. The last couple of months with Queen Maya had been nothing but pure drudgery.
At first, Queen Maya had been keeping her company on some occasions, as she was very much friendly and affable unlike the other queens.
But as the pregnancy progressed, there seemed to be a change in the queen's attitude and treatment towards her, as she became more and more reserved, and segregated. It had all begun with Maya suspecting everything that she did, even to the point of scrutinizing the food that she made her.
"Sheila!"
Maya called out to her from inside the house, as she was vacuuming the front porch. Sheila let out a sigh, as she turned off the vacuum cleaner and headed back in. That had been the rhythm of her life for the past couple of months.
