Chapitre 31: Library

The inside of the library was much larger than Apryl had expected it to be. It looked tall from the outside, but inside the depth of it was surprising. The help, reference, and circulation desk was setup towards the front with two employees sitting behind the desk. To the right of that there was an assortment of different tables, desk chairs, and bean bags setup for students to study or relax.

Further back was where the bookcases were located along with computers where students could log on and access the internet if they needed to work on an assignment. There was a limited amount of them which from what Apryl could tell were mostly occupied by students either alone or in groups working on homework or messing around. A set of stairs were positioned towards the center of the building and spiraled in an upward way leading to the second and third floors of the library where more books and study spaces were located.

As Apryl walked inside, she was surprised that despite the large number of students that were gathered inside, it wasn't as noisy as she was expecting it to be. At least until she saw that sign that displayed the rules of proper conduct while in the library, the top one which was to be quiet and respectful of the fact that many students were working on projects and would prefer the peace so that they could get them finished. This didn't bother her, she was actually thankful that she found some place quiet, it meant that she might be able to get some of her own work done.

Finding a space to set up and look over homework was a bit hard at first because many of the spots were occupied by students and she wanted to find a place to sit on her own. She eventually did find a chair and desk to claim that was off in the corner and across from a boy who was working at a desk with a lamp on it. Apryl couldn't see his face, but by the way that he was concentrating, it seemed obvious to her that he was stressed about what he was working on.

He only slightly glanced up from what he was doing when he must've realized that someone had entered the same space that he was working in, but once he realized that Apryl was working on her own project, he went back to focusing on what he was doing.

The first thing that Apryl wanted to get out of the way was her dreaded history homework. She needed to write something to accomplish that, but the first part was getting through reading the two chapters that were assigned and finding something she found interesting to write about.

Most other students probably didn't think that it would be too hard to do, but they didn't grow up knowing hardly anything about the history of humans or why certain things were all that important to them or what they meant. It added another layer of difficulty to a task that already felt annoying.

Similar to with her composition textbook, there were a lot of words that she had to look up as she reading. Not as many thankfully, but she opted for typing the word in rather than using the voice search option her aunt had showed her when she realized that her phone was louder than she expected causing the person to study across from her to glance over at her with either confusion or annoyance as to what the sudden noise was. It took longer to do but was overall easier than dealing with upsetting someone.

She didn't get further than ten pages in after thirty minutes of sitting there before her stomach grumbled reminding her that she hadn't had anything to eat all day. Putting her textbook down and off to the side of the desk, she got into her backpack and pulled out her lunch. She had been packed two sandwiches and an apple which she didn't want to touch.

It wasn't that she didn't like apples, she just hadn't gotten used to their oddly sweet taste despite their red looking skin. The difference in taste messed with her senses and expectations thus she chose more often than not to avoid them rather than eating them. The sandwiches were good at least and because they weren't terribly messy, she was able to continue her attempt at reading while eating.

Her peace didn't last for much longer before a boisterous student came over to join the quiet one that had still been working hard at whatever project had his attention on the computer in front of him.

"Callum! I didn't expect to find you here. Being overworked as always I see?" The boy patted the other on the back who didn't seem to thrilled about the contact but smiled at him.

"Fancy meeting you here too Oscar. Never a quiet moment when you're around. But, yes sadly. Too much to do when no one else wants to setup and do their job yet expect that things are going to get done." Apryl couldn't help but glance up when she heard the name 'Callum'. Keith had said there was another werewolf on the student council with that name. It could've just been a coincidence since she hadn't felt that presence coming from him. Nonetheless though, she was interested to hear what they were talking about now to find this out.

Oscar laughed at his friend as he pulled out a seat and sat down next to the other to look over what he had been working.

"Maybe you should pull out then if none is going to setup and help you guys out." Callum shook his head at this suggestion.

"And that's exactly how things never ending up getting done. Plus, even if I did leave, Chester wouldn't step down because has too many goals that he wants to finish and refuses to let lazy people on our team push him out from getting them accomplished." He sighed as he went back to focusing on his computer. Based upon that comment, Apryl could only be lead to believe that he was the same person, but what about Oscar? Was he a werewolf as well, or just another human who didn't know better?

"What are you working on right now? It looks complicated whatever it is?" Oscar asked as he peered closer at the computer screen.

"It is complicated. I am setting up graphs as part of a PowerPoint presentation that we are supposed to do to support our argument that some of the changes we've made should be pushed through because they are things other students are in favor of and would benefit from." Callum replied as he scrolled through what he had completed so far so that the other could see what he was working with.

"Can't you just do it by majority vote or something?" Oscar offered. "I thought that worked if most students were in favor of revisions."

"It works at our level, but to petition it higher up and get it passed, we need solid evidence and facts to support our claims, otherwise they'll just blow us off." He replied running a hand through his short dark red hair. It wasn't his idea of a good time, but it was a necessary part of holding his position as secretary since the vice president didn't want to setup and help.

Apryl really wanted to introduce herself to this werewolf since he seemed nicer in the same way Keith was, but knew that it wasn't the right time with this stranger she didn't know about being there, it might seem weird to him. Thus, she would go back to focusing on her studies and introduce herself the next time she found the right opportunity.
