When he entered the next lecture room regarding sustainability, there was a scarce presence of students. He headed to the very end and sat near the window, and slowly each student walked inside one by one. Few were gossiping amongst one another.
'Huh?' Asahi immediately turned his head towards the entrance. He could feel the presence of a person whom he had felt earlier, but there was no one.
After a while, a girl with fringe curls and a few of her girl best friends entered the classroom, followed by a man who seemed stoic. His long hair covered most of his face, and he wore glasses. Right after, the lecturer entered, and the class started.
"There are a variety of plastics that affect the environment. To make sustainability a part of our lifestyle."
To Asahi, the lecture was like a white noise. He continued to scribble on the paper. From what he had thought of, there has to be the presence of a high-level yokai. Something that can spaceship and hide its spiritual energy. It could have either been a kinestu or a tengu. But what if it were there something else, something unexpected...
If it was either of them, then he would need to make a proper poison to lure them out, but he couldn't be too sure. Moreover, he had no idea regarding their motive, and since so many university student's lives were involved, he had to proceed with caution.
'Dragon powers should come in handy at such times,' he weighed out his options. In truth, whenever making a pact with the yokai, especially when humans were at the lower end of the power, it often meant that the yokai would need to be offered the human's soul eventually in exchange for power, and Asahi wasn't willing to trade that.
'Poison... for foxes...' There were a few that ran through his mind, but to get most of them he would need to either go to the greenhouse or the mountains. Moreover, he needed a cure for them as well.
"Ding!"
The bell rang, and the class time had ended. The university schedule for Asahi had been finished, and he packed his bag. He carried the bag only on his right side as he walked past the exit door. Just as he was passing by, his shoulders bumped into another person.
"Ah?" He sharply gazed and saw the stoic man from earlier. He lowered his hat, perhaps as a form of apology, and was quick with his feet. 'Strange,' he muttered.
The hallway was crowded and couldn't contain the students. Asahi pushed through the crowd as he couldn't wait to reach home to experiment on a few of the poisons.
"ASAHI!"
"Eh?"
He could feel a colliding force from far away, so he slid slightly to the right side, and suddenly Yoshiro came running and almost jumped with his entire body weight on Asahi. The mass of students around them was unhinged as they continued their path. Unfortunately, Yoshiro paused a break, which prevented him from landing on the ground.
"Hey, that was cheating."
"It's not." I'm not obligated to cling to you.
Asahi replied, meanwhile Yoshiro had his head down like a sad little puppy.
"Anyways, you going home now? You should stop by and apologize to Miyuki before leaving Sahi. She was sad and flabbergasted when you suddenly ran away when it was her time to introduce."
Huh? Asahi confusingly looked at his friend as he couldn't remember such an incident. But after a second, he remembered what he had done. Poison and yokai were the only things running through his mind, and he indeed should apologize to her, but not at such a time.
"Some other day. Right now, I have to leave." Asahi then tried to leave by walking past Yoshiro, yet Yoshiro held Asahi's wrist and replied, "Don't be such a mean person, Sahi. It's just an apology. It'll be over in no time. Let go." Yoshiro pulled Asahi's arms.
"I can't. I need to leave now. Some other time, Yoshiro." Asahi pulled off his wrist from Yoshiro's clutch, and this time, the calm-headed Yoshiro glared at his friend.
"Are you looking down on us? Or do you simply not understand human words, Sahi? Of all people, I never expected you to be such a bastard." All of a sudden, Yoshiro started to hit Asahi on the chest once and twice.
"Miyuki is sad, and just a word of apology is all you need to say. Come on now," Yoshiro continued.
"I never meant to run away, and you know it. Anyway, I need to go. I've wasted too much time," he glared at his friend, who seemed to be enraged. But before Asahi could leave, Yoshiro punched Asahi's right cheek.
It happened in such soft motion that Asahi could see his hands in slow motion, and yet he got hit. His cheeks internally bled, and Asahi could feel anger boil up. His body almost hit the wall since the path had cleared up due to their argument and a crowd of fangirls had started to form.
"Tsk" Asahi spat the blood on the floor and wiped his mouth before being right in front of Yoshiro. He glared and locked his eyes with Yoshiro.
"Fucker, your girlfriend isn't the only one in this world. We are humans, and all of us have circumstances. Rather than begging to apologize, you should learn to be a better man." He returned the punch, but ten times harder.
As Yoshiro's body hit the ground, the people started to gasp in surprise while Asahi left the room. He needed to find the poisonous flower before it was too late, and he shouldn't spend much time with Yoshiro, especially since he was a different man when he was smitten by women.
Asahi caught the nearest bus and headed to the subway station to reach his house. 'Flower... which flower... hemlock? But it doesn't have a cure... flowers... lilies? no...."
Asahi continued to think about the best ingredient for the poison, but he couldn't figure it out.
"Fox...A poison for Fox...Foxglove?!"
