"You were just too small and scrawny to be noticed." Asahi once again got on his knees, observing the cat, which surely had rolled its eyes as it rested on the floor. It pushed its short hind feet under its fur.
"Sure, I am. Now tell me what you want from me, human servant." The cat flippantly asked in a manly voice.
Asahi didn't answer right away but rather tried to discern the theory behind the cat's mark on its forehead. He had never seen anything quite like it, and it irked him in the best way.
With a smirk, he used his right hand to carry the cat in his arms. "You Fool!" The cat jumped from his arms, but at that very moment, the cat felt a bolt jolt down his body. The cat screamed in pain and plopped onto Asahi's hand.
"You should be more careful, Kuro." Asahi smiled at his new pet while the cat lost consciousness before it could even retaliate.
He then pulled the cat through its neck and placed it in his pocket, and then they left the mountain. It seemed like his ofudo was strong enough to resist this cat's powers, for now, he thought to himself. If this cat was what he thought it was, it would work wonders for his revenge, he smirked while descending the hill.
Six different types of realms exist in the world. The divine realm, the immortal realm, the human realm, the underworld, the monster realm, and the demon realm. The realm that connected to all six realms was known as the spiritual realm, or Kakurio, the hidden realm where all types of supernatural beings coexisted and traveled.
The Spiritual Realm was ruled by the Twelve Zodiac Kami, who were Yokai. Each of the two zodiacs was responsible for supervising the borders between the six realms and the spiritual realm. The Rat and the Ox oversee the Divine Realm, the Tiger and Rabbit supervise the border of the Immortal Realm, and so on.
The sun had begun to rise, signaling him to return home faster. The rain had stopped, and the trees shed the dew drops while Ito Asahi paced through the trees and ran towards his house, which was far away.
With his long legs, he lunged forward quickly. His face was stern and concentrated, and the wind passed by him, drying his sweat. Like a merry-go-round, his mind time and again returned to his grandfather, who had died. The old man had made many sacrifices to raise him as the perfect head of the house.
He distinctly remembered the day when his grandfather had taken him to the house of one of the renowned Omyoji. The man had a pot belly, and his eyes were dropped down.
"So what are you here for, Mr. Ito?" The man asked while reading a manga. His legs were parted wide, and before his grandpa could even respond, the man started to laugh while reading the comic.
"..."
His grandpa had his lips agape, but no sound passed through. The humiliation was too much to bear, but still, they did not complain.
"Why are you pasting your lips, Mr. Ito? Are you hungry? Don't eye my snacks. I know that you have been going through a famine, but please have some manners." The man answered very firmly, and once again, before Ito Ichiro could even reply, he started to read his comic.
While Asahi's nose flared in anger, since the man was not even counting them as humans, his grandfather wetted his lips. His hands were on his knees, yet he stayed calm.
"Since the yokai attacked our village, all our wealth has been taken away from us. Since you are the wealthiest among the associations, we are here to get help." His grandfather bowed toward the filthy man and made Asahi bow his head as well. That day, Asahi felt shame and humiliation flowing through his blood.
In all his life, he had never had to bow his head to anyone. He had lived his life in honour, or so he thought.
"Well," The man tore his eyes off the comic and looked at the pair of grandfather and grandson.
"Why don't you let me adopt your grandson? I offer you a good pavilion that I have at Nagoya." The man lecherously gazed at Asahi. But despite the humiliating remark, his grandfather continued to bow his head and deny the request, which made their lives even more miserable.

After running for about two miles, Asahi had reached home. To not run into his butler, he leapt through the tall fence wall and rolled on the short green grass before getting on his feet. He got up and dusted his pants when suddenly he heard a familiar voice.
"Where had you been, young master?" his butler emphasized. Asahi straightened his back and faced his butler.
The butler had a stern smile on his face, which somehow terrified him. He had known the man since they had had this house. The butler had seen him ever since he was a child.
"I was cooling my head and thinking."
Asahi replied. It was only with his butler that he couldn't keep up with his persona. His perfect heir image crumbled at his sight, which Asahi detested.
"Thinking about Master Ito?" The butler raised the question, to which Asahi could neither say a proper yes nor deny it. The butler had hit the hammer right where it hurt, very much knowing that Asahi hated to confront his feelings.
"Well, I hope you are looking forward to running the Ito family's legacy. Oh, and the Omyoji Association will be here soon to check on you.
The butler gave a bow and left the garden, while Asahi was stunned. The Omyoji association, he pondered. It mostly consisted of the old men, and they were most probably going to test his abilities in an attempt to fail him. It was better to be prepared.
The house was around 5300 sq ft. It was made in a traditional architectural way, preserving its rich history despite the rapid modernization. They had sloping-down rooftops and enagwa, which led to the zen lakes, which had a bamboo fountain as well.
A part of the house was created above the moving stream, which added extra luxury to the house despite its simplicity. The house had plenty of rooms, and on the left wing, Asahi had the biggest room all to himself. He closed the door once entering and took out the cat by clutching its neck skin.
"You are good at pretending to be sleeping." Asahi choked the cat's neck while raising it high up in the air.
"Le- Leave my neck." The cat raged while its voice was raspy. Its eyes started to turn a vermillion red, and the mark on its forehead started to appear again.
