A young man wearing the tight uniform of the knight climbed the stage and two young girls came forward with dazzling ruby earrings. 

They passed the open box to the knight for everyone to see with a big smile on their faces.

 The man bowed and raised the earrings high enough for everyone to see though they were on the stage all the time. Then he closed the box and left with it.
