"Because I hold the debt of your husband. And he had asked for payment.'' There was a rueful smile on Alric's face and he looked at distance. Eve blinked. That was not the reply he was expecting.

But hearing it made her feel like a fool. What was she thinking? She shook her head and sat on the sofa again and closed her eyes.

Killian and Alric exchanged glances as they sat on the other sofa. Their eyes on her worried.

"What did that woman say to you?" asked Killian with a hint of familial love. Eve opened her eyes to meet his worried gaze.

"And you.. Why are you here? Though we are relatives. I didn't even know about your existence a while ago. How could you take me as your family?" Killan frowned at her question. He looked at Alric again but he slightly shook his head.

"Because blood binds us. I do know the customs of this kingdom. But in our land, families die for each other." The way he announced it without a hint of hesitation warmed her heart.
