Cotlin fell on his chair stunned. His eyes filled with disbelief.

"I.. that.." how could he claim that he cared most about Damien when he never realized that Damien was helping every single soul out of his guilt? He closed his eyes and collected all the left strength in his body.

Eve could see his struggle. But she knew if she waited patiently, she would be rewarded with trust. Or at least hints. She did not want to know what he did, she trusted him. She just wanted to know who was her enemy. How the list never ends… 

"A long ago, your grace was testing a weapon and it burst out. Many around him. Most knights and servants working in the palace died in that accident. But somehow your grace survived. 

And he was accused of the mass death. His mother had died while giving him birth and his father was one of the victims of the accident. So, his grandfather treated him like an abomination. He left the palace and lived in solitude.
