However, our captain is famously recognized as a formidable force, the Demon of Demons," Lafitte explained with a smile. He knew that Chen Fan's reputation was well-deserved, which was why he chose to follow him.
Meanwhile, in mid-air, the battle between Chen Fan and Hawkeye Mihawk had commenced.
Hawkeye Mihawk was employing a peculiar footwork resembling the sixth naval division's moonstep technique.
"Armed. Thunder Fist," thunder crackled as Chen Fan's body vanished from its place, enveloped by a faint blue aura. The Thunder Fist of Destruction, an attack of unparalleled power, surged towards Hawkeye Mihawk at incredible speed.
Unfazed, Hawkeye Mihawk held his ebony sword in his right hand, its blade imbued with the third-stage armed color Haki. Hawkeye Mihawk swiftly swung his sword, sending forth a green sword aura that ravaged everything in its path, bearing down upon Chen Fan.
With a sonorous clash, the Thunder Fist and the Green Sword Aura intertwined like dragons, causing the surrounding seawater to explode. After a few seconds of deadlock, Chen Fan's potent Thunder Fist shattered the green sword aura.
However, at the same time, Hawkeye Mihawk countered with his black sword. The two collided in an intense clash of fists, blades, and kicks. Every part of their bodies became a weapon, and the pace of their battle quickened, leaving Monet below able to witness only a blur of green and blue figures battling in mid-air.
As minutes passed, Chen Fan's right leg, resembling an enormous pillar, darkened. It whipped towards Mihawk's head.
Unperturbed, Mihawk raised his ebony sword, cloaked in the third-stage armed color Haki, and intercepted the strike. Simultaneously, Chen Fan's right fist crackled with terrifying thunder, and it surged towards Mihawk's chest.
Witnessing this, Chen Fan remarked, increasingly convinced that Mihawk should be part of his crew. Recruiting a future world number one swordsman would certainly align with his goals.
"Hawkeye Mihawk, it seems this praise is well-deserved," Mihawk replied, taken aback by Chen Fan's strength. He rarely encountered someone of the same age capable of such a back-and-forth battle.
"However, ultimately, it will be I who emerges victorious in this duel. Join my crew willingly," Chen Fan proposed.
"Armed. 150 million volts. Brontosaurus," a confident grin appeared on Chen Fan's face. Thunder of destruction cascaded down, and the sky filled with ominous dark clouds. Thunderbolts crackled, and an immense blue thunder dragon, wreathed in devastating power, descended upon Mihawk.
Mihawk retorted, clenching his Black Sword Night with both hands. His substantial Haki enveloped the blade as he unleashed his immense sword intent, manifesting as a powerful energy surrounding his blade.
Mihawk swung the Supreme Fast Sword, releasing a ten-meter-long dark green sword aura that slashed towards Chen Fan.
The collision produced a deafening boom as the green sword aura and the thunder dragon clashed, their forces causing the sea to erupt in chaos. After a brief standoff, the green sword aura weakened the thunder dragon but continued hurtling towards Chen Fan with undiminished speed.
Chen Fan, unable to evade, blocked the attack with pitch-black Haki covering his arms. The weakened green sword aura tore through him, causing searing pain and blood to gush as Chen Fan plummeted to the sea.
Witnessing this, Rafayette and Monet were alarmed; it was the first time they'd seen their captain so outmatched by a peer.
"What do we do? We must rescue Big Brother; he possesses a Devil Fruit ability and cannot fall into the sea," Monet exclaimed anxiously, unaware that she had not yet mastered the Moonwalk technique.
Rafayette rushed to help but stopped short when he saw Chen Fan's body enveloped in even stronger blue thunder. It seemed that Chen Fan had more tricks up his sleeve.
As Chen Fan neared the sea's surface, his descent halted abruptly, and the destructive thunder surrounding him expanded.
"Condensation," the wisps of thunder transformed into small serpentine thunder snakes.
Mihawk was taken aback by Chen Fan's tenacity and his determination to resist. He saw the power growing and sensed that Chen Fan held hidden cards.
But Mihawk couldn't allow Chen Fan to unleash these hidden powers. He brandished his black sword, sending a high-speed green sword aura towards Chen Fan.
Unfazed, Chen Fan's right hand conjured a "Thunder Spear."
