Chapitre 11: Chapter 11: In the Storm

The storm had raged on for a long time, its intensity showing no sign of waning, remaining as furious as ever.

Amidst the storm, Aomori could clearly see a Pidgeot soaring gracefully, facing the strong winds with a calm demeanor. Whenever a gust of wind struck, it miraculously stabilized its flight within seconds.

"Interesting," Aomori muttered, genuinely intrigued by the Pidgeot's extraordinary actions.

"Stay here and don't move. I'll go and meet it," Aomori said as he left the cave, with Absol following closely behind.

"Huh?" Ryu and Tora watched Aomori's departing figure, feeling a bit lost. In contrast, the Pokémon in the cave seemed relieved by his departure.

Within the forest, Aomori moved like a phantom, swiftly making his way to a high slope near the Pidgeot. Without stopping, he leaped off the slope's peak, and Absol did the same.

As they descended, a pillar shot up from the ground, perfectly supporting Aomori.

It was the Totem Chain of 13, as always.

With each step, Aomori closed the gap between himself and the Pidgeot in the sky until they were on the same horizontal plane.

"Pidgeot, how about a battle? If I win, you become my partner," Aomori called out to the Pidgeot.

The Pidgeot looked at Aomori and the pillar beneath him in surprise. "Humans always like to use fancy tools. Unlike us Pokémon, we're born to fly."

Its gaze shifted past Aomori to Absol, and its expression became even more disdainful.

With a graceful pivot, it transformed itself into a tailwind and soared effortlessly, its wings creating a tempest similar to the surrounding storm. A violent gale!

Aomori drew his sword and plunged it into the Totem Chain, using his other hand to hold onto Absol, struggling against the force of the wind.

Pidgeot continued to circle Aomori, as if silently mocking him.

Seeing this, Aomori resisted the wind while carefully observing Pidgeot's flight patterns, waiting for the right moment.

Absol's keen eyes were fixed on Pidgeot, and it seemed to be influenced by the bird's graceful movements.

In the midst of the pitch-black clouds, a silver snake slithered, and Aomori suddenly had a sensation. He leaped backward, and in the next moment, a winding silver cord fell upon the Totem Chain.

Blinding light scattered around, and the Pidgeot, unable to look away, closed its eyes involuntarily.

This was the chance! Knight Will Not Die Empty-Handed activated!

Aomori, suspended in mid-air, swung Absol around and hurled it at Pidgeot.

Absol had become a powerful projectile.

Pidgeot suddenly sensed an unusual force approaching and realized it was in trouble. A white light enveloped its body, and it instinctively used Quick Attack, narrowly avoiding Absol's strike.

As they passed each other, Absol's horn emitted a white light, releasing a few Razor Winds that hit Pidgeot head-on. Surprisingly, Absol had learned the move Razor Wind from the battle.

However, due to Absol's lower level, the attack didn't render Pidgeot completely unable to battle, but it did cause a momentary interruption in its flight.

Before Pidgeot could react, another shadow loomed over it. Aomori had silently appeared above it, both hands holding his sword, and flames enveloping his body as he viciously struck Pidgeot.

With a single Trainer and two Pokémon, they fell together.

Aomori stabilized his position, landing on the re-erected Totem Chain, and first returned Absol to its Poké Ball. Then, he threw an empty Poké Ball to capture Pidgeot.

Ding! Ding! Clang!

The Poké Ball on the ground flashed twice before falling still. Aomori had successfully captured Pidgeot.

He picked up the Poké Ball, and after a careful examination, he found that one section of the Totem Chain had turned slightly scorched. He let out a sigh of relief that nothing else seemed out of the ordinary, realizing how valuable the Totem Chain of 13 had been during this battle.

Aomori picked up the Poké Ball containing Pidgeot, and then he carefully released both Pidgeot and Absol.

Pidgeot seemed somewhat resentful, turning its head away and ignoring him. Aomori paid no mind and used Minor Healing to treat Absol's injuries.

"Absol, you did well this time," Aomori commended. He had not informed Absol about using it as a projectile during the battle, yet it had remained composed and even managed to hurt Pidgeot with Razor Wind. Its combat capabilities were truly impressive.

Absol raised its head slightly, its eyes squinting with a hint of pride and contentment.

"Pidgeot!" Pidgeot called out in a tone of dissatisfaction. If it hadn't been careless for a moment, it wouldn't have been injured by Absol.

Moreover, most of its injuries were inflicted by its Trainer. "Hmph, if he can hurt me, I'll reluctantly acknowledge him as my Trainer."

Humans who could engage in close combat with Pokémon were rare, and even the proud Pidgeot had to admit that Aomori was quite impressive.

Aomori understood Pidgeot's sentiment, shook his head, and treated its injuries as well before checking its information through the system.

"It's already level 24, with the ability Keen Eye. It has learned Tackle, Sand Attack, Gust, Quick Attack, Agility, and Mirror Move. Its three-dimensional attributes are much stronger than Absol's, almost catching up to mine," Aomori remarked, somewhat satisfied.

—Ding! Would you like to spend 10,000 points to unlock the pet slot early?

"Yes."

—Ding! Do you decide to establish a pet contract with Pidgeot? Note: Dissolving the contract will require a certain number of points.

"Yes."

—Ding! Player Aomori has established a pet contract with Pidgeot. Congratulations!

Pidgeot looked at Aomori with a puzzled expression, finding him more agreeable than before. "If he wants to touch my beautiful feathers, I'll reluctantly allow it."

Aomori checked the system and found that unlocking the next pet slot early would cost 50,000 points, five times the original cost! The good news was that the slot would unlock at level 15, not 25.

With only 6,883 points remaining, Aomori realized that "earning money" was no easy task, reigniting his enthusiasm for battling wild Pokémon.

As the heavy rain gradually subsided, Aomori returned to the cave with Absol and Pidgeot.

Ryu and Tora had been anxiously waiting at the cave entrance, relieved to see Aomori's return. They had been watching the distant lightning and the strange appearance of the pillar with growing unease.

Approaching Pidgeot, Tora rapidly fired off questions, "Pidgeot? You captured Pidgeot? You tamed it?"

Aomori nodded and walked past them, returning to the campfire. Absol and Pidgeot found their spots nearby.

Ryu noticed Pidgeot's sharp and majestic appearance, and seeing it soar gracefully through the storm had no doubt convinced him that Aomori had tamed an incredible Pokémon. He couldn't help but feel envious.

Tora approached Pidgeot with the intention of touching its feathers but was driven back by Pidgeot's piercing gaze.

Once the rain had completely stopped, and they had all dried off, it was time to part ways.

"I'm heading to Viridian City. Perhaps we'll meet again someday," Aomori said without waiting for their responses and left the cave.

A shout echoed from behind him. "Aomori, I'll work hard to train and prove to you that I'm right!"

Aomori waved his hand, leaving them with his back.

After a while, Tora said, "I actually think what Aomori said makes sense. I'll make sure my Pokémon can fight on their own from now on."

"Good! Let's meet at the Quartz Tournament in three months and see who's stronger!" Ryu replied fearlessly.

"Agreed!"

"Agreed!"

The second Pokémon had been tamed!

After much thought, Aomori decided to tame the diligent Farfetch'd. Ash Ketchum had released it all those years ago, and it had never been retrieved. That had always bothered him!
