Chapitre 5: Chapter four

//Got a busy weekend coming up, so this will be the end of daily updates for a while.//

After walking into his version of Babylon, Terrance walked over to the structure he hadn't visited yet, a replica of his house.

Opening the door, a faint nostalgic smell met his nose. It smelled of cinnamon, freshly baked biscuits, and cats. Instead of the farmhouse that he had expected, Terrance was met with the sight of his childhood home in the inside of the building.

As he stepped inside, he looked around, faded memories resurfacing after decades. His farmhouse had been a place to live, but when he thought of the word "home" it was this place that his mind went to.

The rooms were largely the same as he remembered, however, when Terrance got to his room, he found it had been scaled up quite a bit, despite the physical measurements of the other rooms not lining up for it. Many features were the same, the desk he had done homework on, the dumbells left haphazardly in a corner. His bed had been expanded to fit his larger size. What was new were the shelves and frames holding various objects mounted on the walls throughout the room, as well as a bookshelf he did not remember having by his desk.

Tired from testing out his new abilities and walking for most of the day, Terrance doffed his weapons and armor, chomped down on a few apples and mushrooms before collapsing onto his bed and falling asleep.

A few hours later, Terrance woke up. His arms were sore from using the bow so much in the previous fight, however the pain was slowly ebbing away as his self-regeneration skill did it's magic. After a few minutes his arms were fine and felt stronger than before.

"That could be handy, wonder why it didn't activate sooner." Said Terrance.

'Answer: skill [Self Regeneration] unless directly invoked, will activate while the host is either in a dire state, or in a rested state. This is to conserve magic energy.'

"I see, so basically it picks up where the natural healing process stops." Muttered Terrance. He had just assumed that it had always been active but evidently not. It seems that being used to large levels of constant discomfort and pain from his pneumonia and farm work had raised his pain threshold so he simply didn't notice the muscle tears from using a bow over his comfortable weight limit.

Shrugging, he re-equiped his armor and weapons, the strange force once again assisting him in the difficult areas, before creating a portal out to the overworld.

Outside in the cleared out Bokoblin camp, a golden portal swirled into existence, and Terrance stepped out, ready to continue his journey, the sun had just barely crested over the horizon, bringing the light of dawn to the nocturnal world. As the sun's rays reached them, Keese retreated into various caves and tree holes, and animated skeletons buried themselves into the earth once again.

Terrance moved the crates over and walked down the stairwell and continued his journey Eastward.

As he walked onward, he tried to familiarize himself with various animals so he he could categorize them in his Minimap. So far he had scanned boars, 3 types of birds, foxes, and squirrels.

While each individual of a species has a unique magical signature, there were still significant parts of their signatures that they shared with others if their species.

Setting up an automatic sorting process based on these shared characteristics required a moderate amount of data, so Terrance had to scan multiple individuals of a species in order to have Great Sage cross reference the data and input it into his mental map made with his cartography skill.

The best way to describe it would be the map showing a limited view of Terrance's surroundings. When you are looking around you can note what you see in front of you, for example you could look at a desk and note the 14 pens scattered across its surface along with three books and five papers. Just because you aren't paying your full attention on all of these individual objects doesn't mean that you forget that they are there, just that they are not what you are focusing on. The points indicating magical signatures of living creatures functioned off of this subconscious tracking.

As Terrance continued onward he passed another Bokoblin camp, this one built by a river with a rudimentary tower constructed from branches and fallen trees. He was tempted to confront them, but didn't feel it was worth the effort and instead continued on his way after scanning their signatures to add to his Minimap. He had enough data to specify the red bokoblins, but since there was only one blue Bokoblin it just revived a "hostile" marker instead of something specific for its type.

As he continued onward, he heard a mechanical whirring noise as he climbed up a small cliff. Looking down, he saw one of the metal war machines walking around with its metalic tentacle-like legs.

He continued climbing, hoping to get over the ledge before it spotted him, and he did. However as he stood a few feet away from the ledge and breathed a sigh of relief he heard it approach the side of the cliff.

"From what I remember, they never climbed cliffs so I should be fine." Said Terrance, forgetting a two teensy-weensy, but ever so crucial, little tiny details. The first detail was that in a memory it was shown that the constructs could climb up walls which was one reason the town surrounding the castle was destroyed, and second, which really should be the first, never give Murphy an opening.

Scraping noises could be heard from the cliff face, moving forward and looking down Terrance could see the construct as it dug the metal claws at the end of its arms into the stone, leaving gouge marks as it clawed its way up the surface.

"Shit"

Looking around, there was nowhere for Terrance to run or hide. The ledge he was on was only a small platform leading to another layer of the cliff. There was nothing to hide behind or in like trees or caves, with how fast the machine was and it's long range laser beams Terrance would not be able to scale the other cliff face before it fired at him.

There were only two options left, retreat into his gate and hope it leaves the area or fight.

Terrance didn't trust his chances and decided to fight the thing. Moving back towards the ledge, Terrance looked down and met the machine's gaze. It recognized him as a target and it's whirring noises quickened.

Terrance activated Great Sage's thought acceleration. Pulling his bow from his back, he nocked an arrow and let it loose aiming for the eye of the machine. With his magic sense, Terrence could feel the magic of the machine gather towards its eye, blue spirals and lines drew towards the center of the eye just as the. Arrow hit it dead on. The magical flames of the arrow disrupted the flow of energy causing an explosion of blue energy and flames.

The machine was stunned and fell off the cliff, it's heavy body landing poorly and severing one of its own limbs. Terrance whistled to recall his arrow, only to find the arrowhead return. The explosion had charred the shaft into ash except for a little nub of charcoal at the end of the arrowhead.

Terrance looked down on the machine as it seemed to restart. Nocking another arrow, he shot the machine in the eye again, as he whistled, the arrow came back. Unfortunately compared to the explosion from the first arrow this shot didn't seem to do much damage to the construct.

'I'm going to be here all day, even with being able to recall my arrows, I don't think I'll be able to keep pulling this bow for several hours. Great Sage, any ideas?'

'Notice: host has overlooked the abilities of skill [Gate of Blade Works], skill has the ability to launch weapons and lesser duplicates of weapons at high speeds.'

'thas right, Gil did that in the story didn't he, well I guess I can try that.'

Calling upon his gate, Terrence felt information flow into his mind on various weapons and treasures he could launch from his gate. Many of them were close to complete destruction, so he focused on the ones he could use without worrying about breaking. Selecting a spear, he learned it's name was Giant's Bane, it was roughly constructed with a black iron spearhead and sanded wooden shaft. There was something peculiar about it however, as there was a large stone carved and fitted into the iron spearhead with the word דָּוִד inscribed onto it.

It was very sturdy and weighed over 100 pounds due to how large it was. Reaching out his hand, Terrace focused on creating a portal in front of him directed straight down towards the war machine.

Golden whisps formed in the air, as he felt the machine start to gather energy in its eye again, as the golden portal formed a black metal spearhead poked out. The flow of the golden energy speed up and Terrance felt a large amount of energy leave his body. Suddenly, as the machine was about to fire, the spear rocketed out of the portal like a missile. It landed on the head of the machine, just under its blue eye, digging through the armor and internal components and poking through to the other side.

The amount of force it exerted tore the head of the machine from its track leaving only exposed circuits, pipes, and gears which sparked as the magic that had been in a controlled flow was disrupted and became chaotic.

Terrance staggered a bit from some sort of backlash from the sudden loss of a significant chunk of his mana pool. After a few seconds he was fine and he continued to watch the downed construction, weary that it might have another trick up its sleeve.

Terrance felt as the machine desperately tried to control the flow, however as various wires sparked, power jumping from the core to places it shouldn't be, systems failed and circuits fried.

Eventually with a loud explosion, the machine blew apart, sending gears, screws, springs, and shrapnel flying in all directions.

Where the machine used to be were the remnents of it's shell, blown apart from the inside, three orbs surrounded by gears, two of which were dark and broken, with one miraculously surviving with minimal damage. Faint orange and blue glows emanated from various parts of it, almost beckoning Terrance towards it.

The kleptomaniac inside him urged Terrance to take this glowing object, he couldn't exactly remember what it was, but it clearly has some energy left in it.

Slowly scaling down the cliff face he made his way to the remains and dug through it tossing a few of the surviving components into his gate, including one of the arms of the machine. He dug out the orb, and asked Great Sage to help him analyze the data he was getting form using his magic sense.

It was like someone had compressed magic into a liquid form, the amount of magic he was detecting in this basketball sized orb was more then everything he had scanned so far combined.

'Notice: object is a component of Sheikah technology called a "large ancient core." This component contains a compressed fuel composed of various forms of Magicules. The core converts this fuel into various forms of energy via runes that control the output of the Magicules. More time is needed for analysis and a more detailed report.'

Tossing the ancient core into his gate, Terrance noticed the guardian head he had torn off with Giant's Bane. While it's outer surface was scorched, there was not much damage apart from the large spear that had skewered it. Pulling the spear back into his gate, Terrance looked at the strangely shaped mechanism before he tossed it into his gate as well. Maybe he would be able to use it for something.

That done, he turned back towards the cliff and continued his journey to Kakariko. He should be able to make it there by the next day at the pace he was going.
