Chapitre 14: Drinking milk

Mantras were used by Yamuna to pay one's respect to Mata(Mother) Ganga.

And, these mantras did their wonder as after a few moments, A women clad in a pure white Saree and white blouse appeared out from the pure water Ganga river.

Standing against her, Devi Yamuna's beauty pales in comparison. On one hand, Devi(Goddess) Yamuna was a maiden with black complexion, always carrying pot with herself whether standing on her mount Turtle or standing on the surface of water with her hands folded in respect for Mata Ganga.

On the other hand, Mata Ganga is epitome of purity and appeared as a fair-complexioned woman, wearing a white crown and sitting on a crocodile. She holds a water lily in her right hand and a flute in her left. When shown with four hands she carries a water-pot, a lily, and a rosary, and has one hand in a protective mode. Her black hairs were opened, which swayed in the gentle current, creating an ethereal and divine atmosphere, providing serenity to the surrounding.

"Say Daughter Yamuna, Why did you call me?" asked Mata Ganga in her soothing voice, threatening to clean each and every impurity of the listener.

Hearing which, Devi Yamuna replied with utmost respect, "Mata Ganga, I apologize for disturbing your rest. But, a few hours ago, I noticed a divine presence entering my water. This presence came from Devi Charmanvati's side, therefore, I went to find the truth about this presence. However, I was lost in the chants of a child half-asleep in the wax basket which had just entered your body?"

Devi Yamuna looked at Mata Ganga, to which she simply nodded her head, hence she continued, "This strange child freed Devi Charmanvati from her birth curse. Something only an incarnation can accomplish. I also felt some kind of intimacy and familiarity with that child. That's why I wanted to make a selfish request to the respected Mother, May I?"

Mata Ganga heard her every word before gently smiling at her and told her to proceed further.

Devi Yamuna continued, while not able to notice the change in Mata Ganges temperament, "Mata, Please take care of him till he reaches his destination. From his situation, this child's mother may have abandoned him in the river. Neither I am aware of that mother's difficulties at that time nor I wish to know. If your respected self can safe-guard this child briefly, I will be grateful to you!"

Even after hearing Devi Yamuna's request, Mata Ganga stood unmoving. Her previous smile had vanished without a trace.

The surroundings started to turn chaotic as the world felt a wild aura coming out from Mata Ganga.

This invisible pressure kept rising causing the world to tremble at the sight. Every creature started running away from Mata Ganga. Though known for her Purity and forgiveness, she wasn't to be trifled with.

Even without any destructive power, her sheer volume can drown the entire civilizations. This was the reason, due to which Lord Shiva sealed the volume of Mata Ganga in the coils of his hairs, allowing only a little amount of it to gently flow down from the tip of the Himalayas.

Unfortunately, someone has successfully triggered the anger of this forgiving celestial.

"Mata Ganga please stop!" Feeling the change in her surroundings, Devi Yamuna knelt on the surface of water and pleaded to Mata Ganga.

Sadly, her pleas were destined to not be answered by the mighty celestial, furious by the act of a mother abandoning her own child.

Her thoughts were, 'How can a mother abandon her child?! Which mother can bear to part with her child?! That too, throwing their child in a river! Even I felt an unimaginable amount of pain when I had to kill my own Child! With my own hands! Even after knowing, It was for them to get Moksha and they were evil sages, I couldn't bear that pain! Which heart of stone does a mother require to commit this heinous sin!'

Her thoughts started from self-doubts that fueled her rage into destruction, Like her host Mahadev, she too has two inverse personalities of both gentleness and Chaos. Even if disrespect, she won't take it to heart. However, once provoked, she will never stop without drowning the sinners or whole mortal plane or three realms if required.

'A woman like her is an insult to the community of mothers! Her sin can't be forgiven!'

"Mata Ganga please calm down!"

With that thought, she ignored Devi Yamuna and headed towards the Child to find the truth of this matter. If that mother really abandoned Vasusena...

Hell will descend on Earth, causing the destruction of all, till it calms Mata Ganga.

When the world was trembling under the fury of Mata Ganga, Makar and co. were taking Karna to his destination.

Splash!

Thud!

Swish!

The violent waves of the Ganges and razzing winds didn't affect them in the slightest. As soon as they came within the radius of ten meters of Karna, they forgot their destructive tendencies and calmly surrounded karna and others. Simultaneously increasing the speed of Makar and the school of fishes.

Thus is the power of a single syllable 'Om/Aum'. In the Mandukya Upanishad, one of the core Upanishads, 'OM' is equated with Brahman, the ultimate reality, the source of all creation.

It provides ultimate peace to the listeners, dead or alive alike.

This behavior of air and water created an amazing phenomena of a basket drifting on the surface of the Ganges, taken by a school of fishes and a crocodile. The passerby would have worshipped Karna like a deity. If there were any.

Due to the anger of Mata Ganga, the area surrounding the Ganga river had formed an apocalyptic scene, frightening both humans and other creatures alike.

None of them had enough courage to approach the furious tides. Hence, everyone avoided the river like a parasite while pleading Mata Ganga in their hearts.

They were also curious about the cause of the fury of Mata Ganga, one of the most gentle goddesses. She, who provided moksha to countless sinful souls, was unable to forgive someone? That person must have committed a grave sin!

Thud!

Whack!

Splash!

The winds and water of the Ganga river swept everything on its path as Mata Ganga moved towards Karna.

That view of the violent winds and water uprooting trees and shredding rocks into pieces was a very frightening sight to watch.

Mata Ganga had lost herself in fury as she didn't care about other living beings. Why wouldn't she be?

For women, being a mother was a gift of nature. Other than lord Brahma, only mothers give birth to a new life. A child is a blessing of the Lord provided to Mothers. Children are mothers' pride.

A wife can fight the god of death 'Yama' for her husband. Whereas A mother can go against the world for her children.

Be it Devas, Asuras or even Trimurti themselves, they dare not offend a mother. In this period where the world was respecting mothers more than the supreme gods, a mother dared to defile this very relation!

How can one not be furious!

The three realms (Lokas) had once witnessed the wrath of Goddess Kali. Against her frenzy, be it Devas or Asuras, everyone was running for the fear of their life.

To calm a mother's rage, even Niyati had bent their rules. Then, if a mother herself abandons her child, wouldn't it be the greatest insult to other mothers?!

Hence, Mata Ganga's temper wasn't unreasonable. No mother can bear to part with her child, much less throw him/her away. No matter the reason, a sin is indeed a sin. A good cause will not change it. The good for you, your family or your country needn't be beneficial to others. Right.

Splash!

Drip*Drip*

As Goddess Ganga neared Karna and co, she saw a strange view of a basket drifting towards the Kingdom of Anga at a steady pace. The strange thing about it was the calm and serene surroundings around the basket.

However, as she approached him, she heard a soothing voice. Though, it was very thin and girly. It was indeed sweet and enlightening.

"Om~"

"Om~ Om~....."

The sounds of the divine syllable 'Om' coming from the basket. As soon as she heard the chanting, her anger vanished without a trace. A strange peace and happiness replaced her urge of destruction.

Consequently, the atmosphere returned to normal as it was almost morning. The devas remained ignorant of the imminent danger. It was said that devas one day was equal to a year in the mortal world. Henceforth, they couldn't even perceive what happened here without using their Celestial sight.

Also, in mortal places, most creatures (including humans) slept at night and they were built far away from riversides. Additionally, due to the purifying nature of the Ganges water, dwellers of night refrained from disturbing Mata Ganga.

Therefore, except Devi Yamuna, this incident was known to none.

Having calmed down, Mata Ganga didn't stand on ceremony as she appeared in-front of Makar and co.

"Pranam Mata!" Seeing an unknown beautiful Lady appearing out of nowhere, The enlightened group wasn't scared by it like any-other mortal being. Rather, they greeted her respectfully.

Maybe pleased by their reactions, a smiled appeared on Mata Ganga's face, magnifying her motherly charm as she blessed the voyage, "Long live Children!" before asking, "Can anyone tell me about this child?"

Makar stood opposite to Mata Ganga while bowing his head as he answered, " Oh great Mother! I am Makar and we found this divine child in Ashwanadi in the Kunti kingdom. His mother had left him in the river with gold and jewels. When flowing through Ashwanadi..."

Makar explained everything to Mata Ganga about his meeting with Vasusena, their agreement and their journey till now.

Mata Ganga was slightly agitated after hearing the first few sentences as she heard about his sad fate. Albeit, the later half didn't interest her much. Mata Ganga was once a resident of Brahma-loka ( A higher Astral realm or Dimension). At that place, one day is equal to one cycle of creation and destruction of the mortal world. She had already witnessed countless cycles and thus gained an immunity from it.

It was one of the reasons why most celestials did not think highly of mortals. For them, mortals whole life might not last more than a minute. Just like how humans do not value insects' lives.

"Child, what is the name of this baby?" After she digested everything, Mata Ganga asked Makar as she arrived near Vasusena's basket.

Hearing this question, Makar answered truthfully, " I apologize mother! We do not know his good name."

Back to Karna who was trying his best bear his hunger for 5 days straight to continue his promise finally broke. He may be a demigod now, but even with Photosynthesis he can no longer bear it.So he can only cry hoping someone might hear it and save him from this predicament.

"Why are you crying my child? Are you hungry or are those jewellers hurting you?"

Suddenly a very motherly concern voice came out of nowhere to Karna.

Karna's crying abruptly stopped. He didn't understand what voice said as he didn't know the ancient tone of the language spoken by the other party but he did feel the concern in it.

He started hovering his hopeful innocent eyes in front of him but he didn't find anyone's figure.

"Am I hallucinating because of hunger?"

Karna doubted himself, after all that voice sounded as someone speaking next to him but now there is no figure at all.

*Growls*

His stomach demanded food again even after replenish his energy , Karna's eyes became hopeless even being an adult in his past life he could stop and he again started crying even loudly as this is the only thing he can do for now.

"Hey so you are just hungry, Don't worry I will feed you."

That voice sounded again but this time Karna ignored it . In his opinion his mind was playing tricks with him. If not, how can he not understand a single word of other party? Not noticing the subtitles.

But this time changes started happening on the river surface, The stable basket started to shake uncontrollably as if the next moment it will topple over.

"What is happening?"

Karna startled, he doesn't know why this sudden changes is happening in the river but he knows one thing, If he falls down from the basket then his situation will be worse than death.

As he can't swim because of his small body and he can't die because his armour won't let him. So he will continuously drown over and over again until someone intervenes. Just thinking of that sent shivers into his body.

"Don't be afraid I will not let anything happen to you."

Just as the voice fell, the water fell and a very beautiful woman with godly charms came out. Her eyes contain an infinite tenderness, Motherly love radiating from her whole body. She gives a feeling as no matter who comes in front of her she will shower them with all of her motherly love.

Even when she is this beautiful, No one in front of her can raise evil thoughts as she herself wipes out these thoughts by her mere presence.

*Sob*

Karna looked at the woman and was stunned and tears filled his eyes. At this moment he just felt like emptying his heart out to this woman. He felt like he was in front of his mother from his previous life .Tell her his suffering, tell her the pain he felt when he lost his mother, tell her how he survived all those years and tell her how he missed her. He felt that no matter if it's good or bad she will listen to him. She will accept him as it is.

"Hehe, Did shaking scare you?"

The woman bend forward and picked up the Karna in her arms, She concernedly asked him, while carrying him towards the shore. Unbelieving thing was that even she going through the river. There was not bit of resistance of water to her as the river was part of her body, Even basket moving with her ignoring flow of water.

Chirp*

The young eagle chick also woke up after it heard Mata Ganga's voice.

After crossing, she sat on shore taking Karna in her arms and chick on her shoulder. She used other hand and lovingly wiped the tear stains from his cheeks, while other hand firmly held him, giving him a sense of security.

*Sob*

*Sob*

*Uwha*

Karna felt her loving touch and got a sense of protection. This is the first time he experienced these emotions after long time . He was already close to breaking out and this action of hers became the final straw. He burst out crying as he felt like he finally found his salvation. He didn't need to hide his pain in front of her.

"Why did you start crying more putra ? Are you that hungry? Wait, I just give you milk to drink."

Women become anxious seeing karna burst out crying. She quickly flipped her hands in intention of summoning the milk for him but a strange thing happened.

"That's weird, Why is my power not working?"

Woman confusedly looked at her hand not understanding why her divine power was not working.

*Uwha* *Uwha*

Karna's intensity becomes louder and louder. Woman became more anxious, She again tried to use her divine power but it still didn't work.

In the end seeing the child crying so much her heart softened, She held Karna close to her bosom and started feeding him her own milk.

"Uwah- uhm"

Karna was lost in expressing his own pain. So he didn't realise what happened until sweet nectar like milk came into his mouth.

He became confused for a moment and then became awkward but his drinking never stopped. He couldn't help it, he was really hungry and drinking a few sips provoked his hunger even more. So he was drinking subconsciously, his mouth gulping on its own and he somehow never felt he was doing something bad.

After all there is nothing evil or bad between a mother feeding her child. Even if he is embarrassed.

As for how this woman suddenly became his mother? Because system notification rang in his mind.

She soon added. "Young bird. you should drink some milk as well." Saying this, she conjured a smaller clay bowl for the Young dove and placed it right beside him.

Chirp~!

"/...\" The young chick joyously drank his milk.

Devi Ganga also smiled gently at the duo's act of drinking milk like no tomorrow. But... She also felt pity for Kana and the young dove.

As a Goddess, She possessed her own Divya Drishti (Divine Sight) like a selected few, i.e. higher deities. By using it, she had already found everything about the young eagle chick.

This pitiful Eagle's mother died shortly after giving birth to him. He had been surviving for three weeks in this world by eating rotten fruits. If not for him finding Karna, this young dove would have been hunted and eaten by the predators.

Devi Ganga tried to find anything regarding Karna so that she could drown the vile mother in her water!

Jokes apart, she didn't find anything concerning the baby in the basket. Just as she was about to find something, her divine sight turned into void. It left a note before leaving which states, "Some things are better left unknown."
