Chapitre 10: Chapter 10 He saved you!
Daniel took out a wet towel from the bathroom and put it on Chloe's hand as usual, "Clean your face."
He was still as cold and reserved as before.
Although he was taking care of her like an ordinary man, he looked especially noble.
Chloe took the towel and wiped her face. Before she gave it back to Daniel, she couldn't help asking curiously, "Did I do anything last night?"
Daniel squinted at her coldly.
Well, it was an obvious 'yes'.
Feeling ashamed, she bit her lip and lowered her head.
Seeing Daniel's back, Chloe felt something was different.
After she was reborn, she always felt that Daniel became more patient and considerate to her.
As the president of a large company, he didn't have to look after her this carefully. But now, he was used to doing it.
What did this mean?
She couldn't figure out the reason. Nor dared she.
"Last night, you were very enthusiastic, " Daniel said meaningfully before leaving for a meeting.
What? She was enthusiastic! What did this mean?
She must have done something silly and stupid.
"Ah—"
It was almost noon when Lisa came, carrying bags of snacks and supplies.
Before she came into the ward, she hesitated, looking around like a thief. After confirming Daniel wasn't here, she breathed in relief and then walked in recklessly.
Chloe put down her phone and asked in confusion, "Are you working in the intelligence bureau now? Why are you being so careful and mysterious?"
After placing all these things on the table, Lisa sat next to Chloe, "Do you know who sent you back last night?"
"Daniel, of course."
"Then do you know what Daniel did last night?"
Hearing this, Chloe pulled up the quilt to cover herself, "No way. Nothing, I guess."
Suddenly, she remembered Daniel's meaningful smile this morning. But that couldn't be, right?
But why did he say she was enthusiastic?
Did they really sleep last night?
The possibility made her uneasy. She had sworn that she would never love Daniel again, and she even would stay away from him.
But now, why was she feeling that things were getting out of her control?
Lisa looked at Chloe and sighed, "I thought that you loved him but he didn't love you. But now, I'm not sure. He is such an unpredictable man."
Her strange words made Chloe more confused, "What are you talking about?"
Lisa took out her phone and showed Chloe a photo. She murmured, "What a brave hero to save the beauty! He said that you were his sister to protect you."
Looking at the photo of Daniel punching a man furiously, Chloe almost cried, "Oh my God. He…he…"
Lisa stared at Chloe, nodding firmly.
"Last night, seeing you being molested by that nasty man, Mr. Bruce beat him up. He was so cool back then, saying 'she is my sister'! Later I knew that that nasty man was his business partner, but not anymore."
Lisa looked so touched by that scene but Chloe couldn't take his help just as granted.
She frowned, looking serious, "Since he beat his partner, will this affect their cooperation then?"
Although she knew little about the business world, more friends were certainly better than more enemies. She felt guilt if Daniel offended his partner for her sake.
While Lisa was thinking of something else.
"Look at you! You said that you would stop loving Mr. Bruce. But now, you are worried about him. Come on. He is such a legendary and invincible figure. You are overthinking now."
Chloe shook her head, "I would like some water."
Lisa stood up to get some water for her.
Staring at Daniel with a gloomy face on the photo, Chloe couldn't help but notice something.
His sister? If that was the case, it wasn't a big deal, right?
After a whole day of busywork, Daniel returned to the hospital tired.
At this time, Chloe's attending doctor happened to see him, "Mr. Bruce, are you available to come to my office?"
Daniel sobered up and nodded.
The doctor looked at Daniel and said seriously, "Miss Chloe is almost recovered. She can be discharged now. But remember to take her back to the hospital for a reexamination in half a month."
"So she can be discharged now?" Daniel asked to be sure.
The doctor nodded.
As he told Chloe this news, unexpectedly, she felt disappointed. She was not as excited as he expected.
"What's wrong? Are you not happy about going home?" Daniel couldn't resist teasing her.
Chloe shook her head and what she said amused him.
"If I am going home, I need to start paying you my debt." Lying on the bed, Chloe already missed the quiet time.
Daniel parted his lips but said nothing.
The next morning, Daniel finished the discharge formalities for Chloe on his own, and the Johnson family finally sent a car to pick her up.
Laura was very satisfied with Daniel's care for Chloe. She asked him on the phone, "Daniel, do you really have no feeling for Chloe?"
Daniel paused and replied calmly, "No."
Then Laura didn't say anything more. She thanked him and hung up the phone.
Looking at Chloe pushed into the house by the driver, Laura was feeling mad again.
Chloe hadn't seen Laura for a long time, and thus she felt unhappy, "Mommy, why haven't you come to visit me in the hospital? I am such a poor girl."
Although Grandpa Johnson didn't blame Chloe for this wayward behavior, Laura herself couldn't let it go that easily. She was about to talk some sense in Chloe.
"Why are you still coming home?" Laura sat on the sofa with her arms crossed over her chest angrily.
Chloe knew that what she had done was totally reckless and irresponsible, so she admitted her fault nicely, "Mom, I know it is my fault, but I can't have a marriage with Daniel without love."
Laura couldn't understand Chloe, "Without love? You convinced us you loved him so we had done so much to help you tie the knot with Daniel. Now, you are telling me you canceled this for lack of love?"
